The House of Laboure-Roi dates back to 1832, when it was founded in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges by Monsieur Laboure and Monsieur Roi. Twenty-two years earlier Monsieur Claude-Joseph Bonnet establised what was to become a thriving silk company in the city of Lyons. In 1974 these two diverse interests came together, when Louis and Armand Cottin, direct descendants of M. Bonnet, purchased Laboure-Roi from Robert Jeanniard, himself a direct descendant of Mssrs. Laboure and Roi. – Description from JelaDragoljevic

Enjoyed this wine. Has a rich mouthfeel, but lots of flavor of green apple. Balanced with great acidity, and perfect with creamy cheeses. Read More

  • Labouré-Roi Meursault 2004

Pours a deep golden colour but didn't taste like I expected. The buttery side of Burgundy I like was not as evident here and in fact had a more tropical fruit taste to it. The initial sweetness is really strong, then the fruit kicks in before giving way to a quite strong bitterness while swallowing. Its a real contrast of flavours all round whic... Read More

  • Labouré-Roi Pouilly-Fuissé Vallon d'Or 2006

Sweet pear, light caramel toast, a hint of cream, some floral notes, light cedar and a squirt of lime juice greet the nose. Round and fleshy with good acids keeping the fruit taut. A bit nervous today this will benefit from an hour's breathing or perhaps a year in the cellar to allow the elements to integrate. Finishes with a bit of mineral and ... Read More

  • Labouré-Roi Beaujolais Nouveau 2008

Last Nouveau I will probably try from 2008. I really enjoyed this one. Deep purple color. Medium bodied with hints of tropical fruit (banana) and red berry, possibly strawberry or raspberry. I chilled it for about 20 minutes prior to tasting and the real fruit flavors didn't come up until it warmed up. Finish was pleasant but very abrupt. Also l... Read More
