The House of Laboure-Roi dates back to 1832, when it was founded in the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges by Monsieur Laboure and Monsieur Roi. Twenty-two years earlier Monsieur Claude-Joseph Bonnet establised what was to become a thriving silk company in the city of Lyons. In 1974 these two diverse interests came together, when Louis and Armand Cottin, direct descendants of M. Bonnet, purchased Laboure-Roi from Robert Jeanniard, himself a direct descendant of Mssrs. Laboure and Roi. – Description from JelaDragoljevic

  • Volnay Santenots Laboure-Roi 2007

    Snoothrank:

A lovely, layered, creamy nose jumps from the glass at first pouring. Evolving harmonies include notes of honeysuckle, tobacco, boysenberry, candied red fruit, plum, prune, raisin, white pepper, mushroom, musk, and bell pepper. Aromatic development continues through two hours. Velvety tannins and lively acidity provide an integrated structure... Read More

  • What wine would you suggest (both red & white) to serve at a grand opening of a Pottery Studio in Chicago.  Inexpensive BUT tasty, $8. - $12.I know that's really low, but I'm hoping there are people out there that just LOVE the chase of finding great wines at low prices and I can pick your brains.    Thanks! • Labouré-Roi Mâcon-Villages St. Armand 2006

    Snoothrank:

Extremely floral and feminine for a Cote de Nuits. The color is a deep dark ruby. The nose reveals scents of sugar plums, violets, blackberry cobbler with a hint of blue cheese. Fruit forward then melts into a savory almost buttered beef flavor. Medium finish, gentle tannins. Well balanced and a great deal. Read More

  • Help!  I'm having a BBQ/wedding reception towards the end of this month and have hit a huge snag!  My wine shop just informed me that the wine we wanted (Chateau Bonnet 2008 Entres deux Mers) is completely sold out and they don't know when they'll be getting more in!  I'm kind of freaking out because we have about three weeks until the party... ... • Labouré-Roi Mâcon-Villages St. Armand 2006

    Snoothrank:

I really liked this wine. A little stiffled on the nose but a very balanced and complex palate. Classic pinot noir with soft fruit and tannins coming through in the mid palate and subtle hints of pepper on the back. This wine goes through stages in your mouth! Read More

  • Labouré-Roi Mâcon-Villages St. Armand 2006

    Snoothrank:

Some residual floral notes with something akin to wild gooseberry confit on the nose. At 3.5 years, this wine is getting a bit tired; the entry is cooked apple and peach with just a hint of unwanted oxidation. Creamy and clean finish - if unprepossessing. Not quite as good as the 2007, but a worthy wine all the same. Read More
