THE IDEA OF LA VINYA DEL VUIT was born almost ten years ago when René Barbier sat down with his cousin one “crazy night” and brainstormed wine projects. René, who runs Clos Mogador along with his namesake, who also happens to be his father, wanted to do something on his own with Sara Pérez and he decided that the wine would be named after a number.
When morning came and he could see his idea with sober eyes, he and Sarah agreed to invite three friends each to participate in the Priorat project, which would result in La Vinya del Vuit, “The Vineyard of the Eight”. The idea was to invite people who were not too involved in the wine world in order to open their eyes and spread a love for wine through them.
