La Terre are inexpensive wines produced in California that have developed a following through sale in restaurants. The name translates to “the earth,” although these wines are known for their fruity styles of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and White Zinfandel. This is a private label brand with no other known winery information other than it is owned by a Vietnamese wholesaler.

La Terre on Snooth

  • Welcome.  Nice to have a voice from California wine country outside the ... wines of Easton/Domaine de la Terre Rouge (zin under the former label, Rhone grapes under the latter) up in Plymouth.  Very good wines and, again, reasonable prices.  I'm trying to plan a trip up that way to taste there and a few others like CG di Arie, Montevina, and ... • Hello,I have enjoyed wine for many years casually, but I now want to take it up a notch with and improve my palette and knowledge of wine. I enjoy wine tasting in the Sacramento region of California and prefer red wines, but whites are good too in the summer. Unfortunately I don't have very many friends who share my enthusiasm with wine, but I h... • La Terre Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

    Snoothrank:

This was served as the house wine at a local restaurant. It was all they had, so I gave it a try. I enjoyed it so much I had to return a couple days laster for another glass. I asked which wine it was I was drinking, and I was shocked to learn it was a very inexpensive bottle. All I can remember was how smooth it was, and how I wanted to kee... Read More

  • So you want to celebrate Earth Day do you? And what better way than with an organic/natural/biodynamic wine, am I right? Well, before we dive into the meat of this subject let’s be honest with ourselves and face the facts that the best way to celebrate Earth Day would be with the wine that has the least impact on the earth. While all these permu... Read More

  • I’m kicking off this year's series on value wines by taking a look at one the regions least commonly associated with value: Bordeaux. Now that’s not because Bordeaux doesn't offer value, it’s just that their value wines get little attention from the media. I’m not sure why that is. Why the big names glom all of the media’s attention. I think bac... Read More

  • Chateau la Pigotte Terre Feu Medoc 2010

    Snoothrank:

50% Merlot 50% Cabernet Sauvignon What a big, leafy, herbaceous, black currant driven nose! Theres some smoke, earthy, and oak in here as well but this is all about classic Bordeaux aromas. Rich if a bit compact and dense on entry. This is gorgeous, a wine with rich fruit that is fresh, precise and powerful yet not sweet, over-ripe, nor weighty... Read More

  • I'll be in Charlotte, NC on business the week of February 24th, and was hoping some locals might be able to help out with a few questions, and maybe get together to open a bottle or two. Any help would be appreciated, and it would be great to meet Snoothers from that neighborhood. -Bob1) Are there any BYOB restaurants in Charlotte?2) If so, what... Read More
