La Terre are inexpensive wines produced in California that have developed a following through sale in restaurants. The name translates to “the earth,” although these wines are known for their fruity styles of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and White Zinfandel. This is a private label brand with no other known winery information other than it is owned by a Vietnamese wholesaler.

  • Domaine de la Janasse Merlot Blend Vin de Pays de la Principauté d'Orange Terre de Bussière 2006

Garnet color in the glass going to violet on the edge. Ripe black cherry, blackberry and plum aromas on the nose. A juicy rush of ripe dark fruit quickly gives way to ample tannins that linger on the palate. This drinks well on it's own, but really begs for a meal. This wine will greatly benefit from decanting it at least 30 minutes to an h... Read More

  • Easton Cabernet Sauvignon Shenandoah Valley 1999

a little metalic tasting on the front end... awsome licorice finish. Overall very smooth - but still a bit of an alcohal bite out the nose. Eqivolent with a good 18$ bottle of wine.... certainly not a $30+ bottle. Read More

  • Château Moyau Coteaux du Languedoc la Clape Terre de Pierre 2005

Made from a blend of southern red grape varietals (52% Carignan, 24% Grenache Noir, 18% Mourvedre and 6% Syrah), the wine is cherry red with flashes of black in the glass with an intense nose of black currants, raspberries and licorice. As the wine opens, the wine takes on aromas of mellow black fruits with slightly spicy, elegant finish. The ... Read More

  • Domaine de la Terre Rouge Noir Grenache Mourvedre Syrah 2000

This wine is produced in the style of classic chateauneuf du pape in the region of Avignon, France. It is a grenache, syrah, mourvedre blend but I don't recall the dominant varietal. If I had to guess (33% chance) I would say syrah was the most noticeable. At one time Avignon was new home of the Holy Roman Empire and became the "new home of the... Read More
