La Terre are inexpensive wines produced in California that have developed a following through sale in restaurants. The name translates to “the earth,” although these wines are known for their fruity styles of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and White Zinfandel. This is a private label brand with no other known winery information other than it is owned by a Vietnamese wholesaler.

La Terre on Snooth

  • After last week’s disappointing look at value priced Zinfandel you would be right to think that this week’s take on value priced Syrah, with a focus on Australian Shiraz, might produce equally horrifying results. After all if there was a poster child for big, oaky, goopy, and slightly sweet wines in the marketplace Aussie Shiraz certainly would ... Read More

  • Easton Zinfandel Amador County 2012

    Snoothrank:

A bit of oak greets the nose along with peachy freshness of fruit and layered aromas of smoky, oily blackberry fruit. Fairly rich and peppery, in the mouth, this is laden with bitter black cherry and blackberry fruit, supported by chewy little tannins and good finishing acids. A bit grapey and a touch rustic. 87pts Read More

  • Easton Zinfandel California Shenandoah Valley Estate Bottled 2010

    Snoothrank:

Fairly oaky on the nose with lots of coffee accents to the black and plummy nose. Bright firm and well defined in the mouth, with bright acids supporting tart red berry fruit, framed by lovely peppery and almost gin like accents. Focused in the mouth with gorgeous fruit, fine edgy tannins and floral finish. 91pts Read More

  • Easton Zinfandel Old Vine Rinaldi Vineyard Fiddletown 2010

    Snoothrank:

Dark in color and on the nose with old wood, earthy, dried flowers aromas wed to a core of very masculine, oily and dark fruit. Packed and smooth in the mouth with intensely briary, spicy and rich black cherry fruit and boysenberry flavors. This is a rich and complex wine with abundant ripe tannins, bright, juicy acids, and a long intense finish... Read More

  • We tend to spend an awful lot of our time running around looking for things. We look for the greatest wines, within our budgets of course, and we look for the perfect wine for ribs, greek salad, or whatever it is we like to eat, and we seek out the greatest value wines on a regular basis. That last search can a get a little silly. Often we’re lo... Read More

  • Time to do a little cellar cleaning and what better way to start than with the odds and ends of Italian wines that have been building up in the basement. Sadly theres no real cohesive theme here, though a few varieties do appear more than once among the tasting notes that follow. There’s not even a pricing paradigm that’s  useful here, though mo... • Welcome.  Nice to have a voice from California wine country outside the ... wines of Easton/Domaine de la Terre Rouge (zin under the former label, Rhone grapes under the latter) up in Plymouth.  Very good wines and, again, reasonable prices.  I'm trying to plan a trip up that way to taste there and a few others like CG di Arie, Montevina, and ... • Hello,I have enjoyed wine for many years casually, but I now want to take it up a notch with and improve my palette and knowledge of wine. I enjoy wine tasting in the Sacramento region of California and prefer red wines, but whites are good too in the summer. Unfortunately I don't have very many friends who share my enthusiasm with wine, but I h... • So you want to celebrate Earth Day do you? And what better way than with an organic/natural/biodynamic wine, am I right? Well, before we dive into the meat of this subject let’s be honest with ourselves and face the facts that the best way to celebrate Earth Day would be with the wine that has the least impact on the earth. While all these permu... Read More
