La Serena is a wine estate in the Montalcino district in Tuscany, Italy. The estate has been in the Mantengoli family since the 1930s, but wines weren’t produced until the late 1980s by brothers Andrea and Marcello. The vineyards, planted with 100% Sangiovese, are located in the Torrenieri zone, in an elevated section in the northeast corner of Montalcino. The wines are produced with the consultation of oenologist Paolo Caciorgna. Both the Brunello and Rosso di Montalcinos have gotten rave reviews and continue to impress in recent vintages. La Serena is poised for full organic certification starting in the 2013 vintage.
