The Ricci family has produced its own wine since 1951, producing 150q that year. In 1979 the family made its first planting of Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes. Shortly after, in 1980 the first Chianti Colli Senesi grapes were planted in the vineyard. In 1994 Antonio Ricci and family began bottling all wine on-premesis at La Roccaia itself. In 2006 work began on the latest incarnation of the ever-expanding Ricci wine fermentation cellar (700 m2), and was completed in 2009. In 2011 1,050q of wine was produced at the farm. La Roccaia currently comprises 16 hectares of vineyard, 2 hectares of olive grove, and 14 hectares of arable land. Today, Famiglia Ricci’s La Roccaia produces 10 varieties of wine, including white (Bianca and Vernaccia di San Gimignano), red (Rosso and Chianti Colli Senesi), sparkling wine (Spumante), grappa and vin santo, as well as Olive Oil, under the family label.– Description from La Roccaia
