The winery "La Magia" lies just north of the roman abbey of St. Antimo. It is not only situated in one of the best agricultured zones for a vineyard, but is also positioned among one of the most beautiful panoramic sight in Montalcino. The winery is run by Schwarz family who come from the Alto Adige (South Tyrol) region. The Schwarz family prefer a more natural approach in the vineyard, using as few chemicals as possible, while for fermentation and vinification they use the modern technologies. The winery consists of 52 hectars land of which 16 hectare are the vineyard of the Brunello vines. The products are 40.000 bottles of "Brunello di Montalcino", 30.000 bottles of "Rosso di Montalcino", a small quantity of a "Rosato" and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. – Description from dvoristanac

La Magia on Snooth

  • La Magia Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2001

    Snoothrank:

Enjoyed this La Magia 2001 on 1 March, 2014. It has been in my cellar since Nov 2009 so 4+ years.Bought for EUR 50 on a wine cruise with Silja Line. The wine opened up in the glass nicely after some 30 min. Still very dark ruby in color, slightly thin on edges. Blackberries, red currant, cherry and hints of licorice and vanilla. Full bodied, but... Read More

  • La Magia Rosso di Montalcino 2011

    Snoothrank:

Savory on the nose with smoky aromas of old wood, rhubarb and beet root. Very complex on entry, smooth and fairly rich, with some chewiness still here. Theres good detail to the slightly meaty and peppery herb framed fruit that wraps up in a short finish with a bit of wood tannin sticking out on the back end. 86pts Read More

On the finish theres a nice violet note but then this turns raw and a b... Read More

  • Joseph Riesling-Traminer South Australia la Magia Botrytis 2002

    Snoothrank:

nose very volatile liquor smell in the glass with some licorice and lost of stinky sort of herbal thing. In the bottle it smellls mostly of licorice and unpleasant herbs. Color is dark like caramel or brandy, stained the bottle it came in. Palate was very thick, viscous like syrup, one-dimensional sweetness. Literally tastes like suga, grape jui... Read More
