La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion

La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is the second wine of Château La Mission Haut-Brion. This name reflects the rich history and tradition of the Château. The Lazarist Fathers, also called the Priests of the Mission, inherited the domain of La Mission and took possession of it in 1664. They built a chapel, consecrated on August 16, 1698 by the dean of the chapter of Saint-André. The priests named the chapel Notre-Dame de Haut-Brion. The exceptional quality of the wine produced by the good friars contributed to the growth of the congregation. The brothers thanked God for His blessings by engraving years of the best vintages on the beams of the chapel. The years 1784, 1811, 1848, 1874, 1899, 1900 appeared on the ceiling of the chapel. – Description from Kursulla
