La Brancaia on Snooth

  • Brancaia Ilatraia Rosso Tuscany 2014

    Snoothrank:

Deeply fruited with blackberries and black currant notes, fresh spice and a clean, concentrated fruit, lightly floral with good complexity. Tart dry and complex on the palate with a good mixture of red and black fruit, an earthy character with tart and smoky chocolate tannins, herbal licorice and oak notes and a deceptively light finish of choco... • I saw that Sandrone Valmaggiore on sale a little while ago, and it's serious wine at a decent price, but I'm hesitant to buy Sandrone Nebbiolo because they are "modernists." On the other hand, at least one idea behind modernism was to make wine that was appealing young.  I'm odd that I like Nebbiolo even when it is young, although I think that m... Read More

  • Unless you bought them with aging potential in mind, a fair few of your 2013 pink and white wines won’t be drinkable by next spring. Guzzle down the last of those quick-to-turn bottles, cellar a few others, and ready yourself for the onset of fall wines. Even if you do not live in a starkly transitional climate, this a great time to think about ... Read More

  • "OT, do you drink Gallo?"Yep, I do, as do many here. Gallo brands are far reaching. Look what's on my countertop right now... Frei Bros is a Gallo brand, so is Louis Martini. That Rancho Zabaco that EMark drank the other night, you guessed it, Gallo brand. They are a huge operation that produces a lot of pedestrian wine. They also make wines on ... Read More

  • My first time with Tignanello, and while this not something I'd buy in bulk it was good to have the experience. Definitely good wine, and curious to try an older vintage.TN: Plum, fig, coffee, vanilla, and black cherries on the nose.Shows good acidity on entry, followed by fresh red and black fruit flavors, coating the mouth well with extract. • Brancaia Supertuscan Blend Toscana IGT Tre 2010

    Snoothrank:

Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet SauvignonSoftly twiggy and tea like on the nose with gentle undercurrents of oak spice adding some support and sweetness to the red cherry and raspberry aromas. Fairly light bodied in the mouth, this blends good acidity and slightly austere yet modest tannins with a slightly herbal shaded core of red fruit. A touch i... Read More
