Naramata is easily the premier growing region in British Columbia, with it’s moderate temperatures, abundant sunshine and cooling breezes. The rolling hills and variable soil types result in growing sites with unique microclimates that can be matched to the right varieties by an experienced grape grower. No matter what style of wine you like, you will find it in Naramata. Drawing its name from the Kettle Valley Railway, which traveled through the Naramata area on the east side of Okanagan Lake, the winery opened to the public in 1996. Kettle Valley Winery is known for it’s dark, intense and well structured red wines, including Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and blends such as “Old Main Red”. Chardonnay has been the main white wine produced, but in recent years Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc have also proved popular. They are all flavourful and aromatic, with a rich mouth feel. – Description from iskicm

  • I have been thinking for a while on the idea of facilitating the meeting up in person of those loyally frequenting this site.My preference is to make these meetings open to all members, and even varying the location of any meeting according to convenience since we live all over the world (though mostly in North America). In any case, this new thr... • Hi everyone.  My wife Sandra and I have been into wine for the past few years and that's led to a few trips to Napa Valley and related areas in 2012 and 2013.  We enjoy all wines but reds are our favorites.  We hosted our first wine tasting party last night and it was a fun event - sixteen wine lovers trying different wines in a blind tasting.  ... One of our "house favorites", this Gewurtz never fails to please. Strong Lychee nose, nicely balanced...only complaint is that it is so easy to drink that the bottle is empty far too quickly :-( Read More

  • Would definitely be interested in hearing what people think are the best wineries, and wines, in the Okanagan. Hopefully with an explanation why. Have a good friend going for an extended stay, based in Kelowna, in a month or so, and it'd be nice to be able to offer some pointers. She and her husband drink a lot of New Zealand sauvignon blanc,... Read More

This is a classic "Meritage" from a boutique vintner on the Naramata bench on the south east shore of Lake Okanagan. I've made it my house wine - it is immensely drinkable and can be found in many of the better restaurants in vancouver. I'm a little puzzled by the prices quoted above. It can be obtained over the internet from the winery for aro... Read More
