It was precisely the wines of Argentina that attracted Montes into that country. For that same reason we imposed upon ourselves, right from the start, in 2001, the task of acquiring for KAIKEN the best grapes produced in the area. We went through all the best grape producing estates, finally deciding for the exceptional quality of that in the First Zone (Maipú, Cruz de Piedra, Ugarteche, Agrelo) as well as from Valle de Uco. Along with a hard selection of the best producers, we meticulously supervise each step and work in the vineyard from start to finish of each growing season, observing well each little detail. This, to attain the full potential from the best grapes. – Description from dvoristanac

  • Kaiken Terroir Series Mendoza 2013

    Snoothrank:

Thick blackberry notes carry a hint of cocoa and plenty of fresh baking spice on the nose. Explosive and juicy in the mouth, this is a bold wine thats equal parts fruity, floral and earthy, with dusty rose petal, deep blackberry and currant, and a zesty finish of cinnamon, clove and black pepper. A fantastic selection for grilled meat dishes of ... Read More

  • Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

    Snoothrank:

Darkly herbal, rich and bold aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice and creamy vanilla. Rich and fruity on entry, this presents itself confidently, with bold ripe blackberry and toasted caramel notes, earthy and oaky through the midpalate with chewy tannins drying out the sides of the mouth as the acidity keeps the palate very fresh. Finis... Read More

  • Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2012

  • Montes 'Kaiken' Malbec 2011

    Snoothrank:

Haven't had the 2011 but I have been a big fan of the Kaiken in general over the years. Nice mid-level Malbec. And as others mentioned like most Malbecs I've had, helps to let them breath a bit before drinking Read More

  • Kaiken Torrontes Terroir Series 2014

    Snoothrank:

Quite aromatic and floral aromas of pineapple, melon and rose petal with a hint of white pepper. Juicy and full bodied in the mouth, with loads of fresh acidity up front softening in the mid palate and showing flavors of green apple, lemon and an appealingly spicy finish that hints at some wood treatment. • Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2011

    Snoothrank:

Dark and exotic on the nose with layers of oak, tropical flowers, pomegranate and zesty wild plums. Rich, powerful and a bit mysterious on entry, this shows slightly aggressive wood tannin today, adding a drying vein to the midpalate, but the fruit is so rich its easy to miss.
