The name Kachina comes from the Hopi Indian religion, where Kachinas are supernatural beings who come down to the Hopi villages from their home atop the San Francisco peaks near Flagstaff Arizona. In February of each year the Hopi Kachina Spirits return to the villages for the Powamu, the Bean Dance Ceremony. The impelling force of the Hopi religion is the necessity for water in all forms such as rain, snow and drinking water from the springs. Consequently, the Hopi people petition the Creator through their intermediaries, the Kachina Spirits, for favorable weather, bountiful crops and a peaceful and prosperous life. The Kachina Spirits stay until July, leaving after the Ninman or Going Home Ceremony. – Description from AlexJelena

I'll have another two bottles there for you to pick up for me if you ever make it over that way. I love W. Sonoma, it's just so incestuous.Seriously, friends of ours had t... Read More

  • C-D-B was once considered a pretty good producer.  Funny thing is, right around that time (1994) I started dating a woman who bought cases of that Merlot (at Costco, no less) as her regular wine.  I thought it was kind of pricey and not very interesting for $15/bottle.  We started buying more of our wine (including early and good Paso Cabs) from... • Thought I'd start a topic to see what "different" wines people are drinking. I've been on a hunt to find wines made from lesser known grapes or from unusual areas. Here's one of each. This is a rose made from Cinsault, not too unusual right? Well this is from the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. Either they don't make very good wine in Lebanon or this bo... Read More

  • Perhaps we could use a place to share recent purchases...Here are some '12 Burlotto Langhe Nebbiolo, which came highly recommended from a trusted friend who just got back from a month in Italy. I'm not seeing many available in the States quite yet, but was happy to find these locally. Read More
