In order to ensure the best conditions for matured wine, 3 local stone cellars allow us to store more than 900 oak tanks. Monplaisir's wine cave is situated in Chinon on the banks of the Vienne river. It is an old stone quarry where the temperature is constantly kept at 12°C. You can also find there an air conditionned room that can caster for up to 180 people. This wine cellars open from March to November. Visits and wine tasting sessions ( tél 0247932075) Dansay's wine cave can store to about 300 barrels of wine as well as other alcohol such as Marc Brandy from the Loire slope that needs to refine more than 10 years in new casks. With an entanglement of narrow passages the wine cellar are very humid resulting in a perfect place for the ageing of our best wines ( from 12 to 14 months). – Description from dvoristanac

I am new to the French, having drank CA wine for... Read More

  • Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Clos d'Isoré 1990

    Snoothrank:

Delectable. Sturdy and shows fantastic age. There's a hint of eucalyptus, tons of dark fruit (think kookaburra licorice) and lots of savory spices. Fairly dry with a full and slightly spicy finish. I ate it with the meatball at Gramercy Tavern, and I'm telling you it was the best combination since PB&J. Read More

  • Jean-Maurice Raffault Chinon Rosé 2007

    Snoothrank:

Spicy squeaky fruit - Jalepeno peppers stuffed with strawberries in the nose, you will note the cab franc varietal characteristic here. This is a squeaky clean rose on the palate with lean minerally/chalky strawberries with a solid tart fruity finish. Read More
