Another winner from Jean-Luc. Yesterday I had one of their 2007 Cotes du Rhone so I was inspired to try this one today. This one is less fruit forward, more leathery and earthy, nice black licorice, cinnamon, and lingering tobacco and blackberry jammy ...

2007 vintage, it's actually Grenache Syrah Mourvedre 50, 30, 20. Very nice blend. Deep purple color, leathery dark fruit and a silky smooth finish. A bit more "fruit forward" and less earthy than what I would have expected. Reminds me of a California S...

With an impressive read on the French label, it sounded like this rose' was worth a go. Colour was a bit of a warning, as most rose's I enjoy are a light to deep pink with a boarderline red. Scent was light, a bit floral and also concerning but taste is what matters. On the pour, it seemed very peach. Peach? Okay, trying not to judge a wine... Read More
Pretty golden color. Faint and pleasant tropical fruit aromas. Quite light-bodied on the palatealmost watery. Not the fruit that the aromas forecasted. A bit of bitterness. As the wine warms up a bit, though, some more fruit flavor emergesapple as much as anything. Also, viscosity seems to change. An OK wine, but not a great wine. Read More
Light peachy pink. Juicy strawberry, nectarine and other stone fruits. Slight medicinal quality. Seemed to have some heat but alc. is only 12.5%. Palate was a bit underwhelming. Read More

For March, my tasting group explored the length of the Rhône valley. Probably for consistency of quality, one of our best tastings to date with just about all o the wines showing well and being universally liked by all. I was lucky to find/have access to some older vintages from estate sales and store cellars, so it made for a fun night. Here... Read More
