  • So we have some interest in having a West Coast meet-up (or you can call it a throw-down) for Pinot.  Here's my opening proposal:  We'll do it very close to the Oakland Airport, to save those who are traveling in from out of town (like Emark and JonDerry) from having extra travel if they want to fly.  This would give LuchaVino a chance to attend... • Being a cab lover I am hesitant to stray from what I like. On a recent occasion I had the opportunity to try a Zinfandel and to my amazement, it had some of the same attributes of the cabernets I love so well. I perused Snooth and stopped on a particular zin from Bogle vineyards. Gregory Dal Piaz gave it a nice rating and being a member of Snoot... Read More

  • I'm planning on being in Napa on Wednesday the 25th and will probably visit at least two wineries while there. Anyone care to meet up, just let me know.My first priority seems to be Outpost Winery, though there are a few others I'm considering, I'll probably start at Outpost at 2pm if they can accommodate. Now, I don't really want to drive far as I would rather stay in the city to check out dining, shopping and the likes. Are there any wineries/etc within the city limits that I could tour? I have never been to San Fracisco but... Read More

  • A couple of news items I was pondering today.First, Robert Parker came out with his ratings for the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. Ever the masochist, I decided to go look at some prices in the marketplace after the ratings were released. • Nothing says summer like rosé wine. Well, that not true; nothing says summer like bottles and bottles of this captured sunshine! Sales of rosé have exploded over the past several years and while that has brought many more players into the game, the results aren’t always what we’re looking for. I fear rosé is headed down the path of Riesling! ... Read More
