In 1847, a young Bavarian immigrant called Johann Gramp missed the wine he used to drink in his home land. Instead of changing his habits, he decided to start growing grapes and attempt to make the wine himself. It was a way of adapting to a new country, but still staying true to his character.
What he didn’t know was that when he planted the Barossa Valley’s first commercial vineyard along the banks of Jacob’s Creek, he was also planting the seeds of one of the most popular wine brands in the world that would be named after the waterway.
Today, Jacob's Creek remains one of the most well known, trusted and enjoyed Australian wines around the world. It delivers fresh, elegant and great tasting wines that show true varietal character.
The philosophy of Jacob's Creek is to offer a range of wines that suit all occasions.
As a company, we concentrate on two key things: The first is continuous improvement. Every vintage we strive to improve the quality of our wines by refining our winemaking practices and continually gaining a greater understanding of our vineyards.
The second is that in everything we do, at every step of the winemaking process, from the vineyards all the way through to your glass, we all work with the final destination in mind. We do it for the most important wine critic. You.

Nestled in the heart of the Barossa Valley for over 150 years, Jacob's Creek, Australia’s first commercial winery, is dedicated to crafting high quality wines for every palate and every occasion. Jacob’s Creek was named after the stream that flows through the hills of the South Australian Barossa Valley. Its founder, Johann Gramp, emigrated from Bavaria in 1847 and landed at Reeve’s Point on Kangaroo Island, located on the west side of Australia. Johann produced his wine in small batches until his passing some years later. Today, Winemaker’s Philip Laffer and Bernard Hickin still follow the quality winemaking practices implemented by Johann so many years ago. Laffer & Hickin oversee every step of the process from harvesting to bottling and continually strive to make each vintage better than the last. Since the release of its first commercial vintage in 1976, Jacob’s Creek has grown and is now exported to over 60 countries and has won hundreds of awards internationally. Although the winery is located in the Barossa Valley, grapes are sourced from eight major wine making regions in Australia to enhance the quality of the wines: Warm Climate: Riverland: Chardonnay Moderate Climate: Adelaide Hills: Sparkling wines Barossa: Shiraz Clare Valley: Riesling Langhorne Creek: Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz McLaren Vale: Rich, full-bodied reds Padthaway: Chardonnay & Riesling Cool Climate: Coonawara: Cabernet Sauvignon The Jacob’s Creek winery offers three classes of wine as well as a sparkling line in the United States: Classic ($7.99): Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz-Cabernet, Cabernet-Merlot, Riesling, Semillon-Sauvignon Blanc & Grenache-Shiraz Reserve ($12.99): Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc Heritage ($20-$30): Reeve’s Point Chardonnay, Steingarten Riesling, Centenary Hill Shiraz, St. Hugo Cabernet, Johann Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz ($80) Sparkling ($12.99): Chardonnay Pinot Noir, Rosè Jacob’s Creek has taken a strategic approach to care for the environment just as they have for their wine making practices. They do this through water management, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, reduced electricity, regeneration of the land around the winery, keeping waste to a minimum and working efficiently both in the vineyards and in the winery. The original Jacob’s Creek winery is still standing today and visitors are welcome to cross the infamous Jacob’s Creek and walk the grounds or take vineyard tour. The restaurant as Jacob’s Creek focuses on affordable, simple and contemporary native Australian choices as well as Asian and Mediterranean options that are crafted with the Jacob’s Creek wine pairings in mind. Jacob’s Creek is a part of the Pernod-Ricard USA wines portfolio and urges all adults to consume its products responsibly and has an active campaign to promote responsible drinking.
