Founded in 1972, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines crafts an array of acclaimed wines from estate vineyards in Monterey County, Paso Robles and Napa Valley. From this world-class palette of fruit, J. Lohr produces three tiers of award-winning wines – J. Lohr Estates, J. Lohr Vineyard Series and J. Lohr Cuvée Series. Selecting Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation for his original vineyard, Jerry planted his first 280 acres of grapes beginning in 1972. Ideally suited for cool-climate winegrowing, these vineyards have become an acclaimed source for outstanding Chardonnay, Riesling, Valdiguié and Pinot Noir. At the heart of J. Lohr’s renowned red wine program are its 2,000 acres of estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Featuring warm, sunny days, cool nights and diverse soils, these vineyards have proven ideal for cultivating a flavorful array of grapes including voluptuous and complex Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc along with Syrah and Zinfandel.

  • J. Lohr Highlands Bench Pinot Noir 2011

    Snoothrank:

This is a nice Riverstone and a good value at around $8. The nose has pear and honey but is a bit overpowered by the oak. Needs more fruit intensity but is an enjoyable wine. Not profound but not expensive either. My rating -- 86 Read More

  • J. Lohr Estates Falcon's Perch Pinot Noir 2010

    Snoothrank:

Smoky on the nose with nice cherry and cola aromas that have grilled beef, green herb and toasty oak highlights. Nicely tart and acid-driven on entry, this quickly shows some meaty flavors along with notes of black cherry pie and plenty of wood spice. The texture is fairly smooth if a little chunky with peppery accents on the mid-palate that lea... Read More

  • J. Lohr Fog's Reach Vineyard Pinot Noir 2009

    Snoothrank:

Dense ruby leading to garnet in the glass. Big toast and smokiness on the nose with hints of cocoa, vanilla and some light funk. Once that gives way, there is lush, dense strawberry, raspberry and cherry fruit. Very light suggestions of sage and white pepper. On the palate, it has a spicy entry. Oregano and thyme, followed by denser crushed... Read More

  • J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

    Snoothrank:

A multiple amount of fruit on the nose. I'm sure there was a hint of apple. On the palate very low key hints of berries and slight taste of oak which was not offensive.A medium body cab with mild tannins and not much of a finish. For this price point i believe it is a descent everyday cab. Read More

  • J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot 2009

    Snoothrank:

Chocolate, herb and carob come together on the nose with lightly beefy base notes and plenty of spicy top notes. Soft and a bit plump in the mouth, this is slightly creamy with bright red cherry fruit saturating the palate. Theres a nice layer of wood spice floating under the fruit, with a vanilla cream accent popping on the back end. The back e... Read More
