Founded in 1972, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines crafts an array of acclaimed wines from estate vineyards in Monterey County, Paso Robles and Napa Valley. From this world-class palette of fruit, J. Lohr produces three tiers of award-winning wines – J. Lohr Estates, J. Lohr Vineyard Series and J. Lohr Cuvée Series. Selecting Monterey County’s Arroyo Seco appellation for his original vineyard, Jerry planted his first 280 acres of grapes beginning in 1972. Ideally suited for cool-climate winegrowing, these vineyards have become an acclaimed source for outstanding Chardonnay, Riesling, Valdiguié and Pinot Noir. At the heart of J. Lohr’s renowned red wine program are its 2,000 acres of estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Featuring warm, sunny days, cool nights and diverse soils, these vineyards have proven ideal for cultivating a flavorful array of grapes including voluptuous and complex Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc along with Syrah and Zinfandel.

  • I get it. Not all of us have the time to research wine. Diving into the details to find that perfect bottle. No, for many of us buying wine this time of year is just something we have to do. It’s not that you don’t love wine, it’s simply that there isn’t the time, or the impetus to spend inordinate amounts of time deciding, and searching for wha... Read More

  • Not only is Cabernet Sauvignon the most popular red wine, it’s also one that is best suited to gift giving. It’s a wine that everyone knows and understands. Big, rich and bold, it’s the archetype of red wines that is perfect for the cooler months that lie ahead. While Cabernet does get a bit of a bad rap as being ubiquitous, that doesn’t mean th... • J Lohr Cabernet Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

    Snoothrank:

well, if you love cab and oak - this is your choice. It has smooth, raw simple texture with very typical Cab taste and yammy sweet flavor. Easy to start drinking, difficult to stop =) It has so much oak, that I feel more oak tannins instead of fruity aftertaste... Actually 15$ is a suitable price. I would take it somewhere in restaurant but not ... Read More

  • It’s a great thing when things just come together. Earlier this year I had planned a trip to California to do some tasting but it had to be postponed. When I went to reschedule I noticed a thread in the Snooth Forum  that was looking for people to join in a West Coast Pinot Noir Throw Down. I wasn’t sure what exactly that entailed but I am alway... • J. Lohr Pinot Noir Vineyard Series Fog's Reach 2011

    Snoothrank:

Big black cherry, vanilla and cola notes greet the nose along with nuanced smoky, toasty oak, black currant jam and a bit of clove. A bit less intense than the nose suggest, this is none the less a fairly rich wine though one with plenty of acidity keeping it lively in the mouth. Packed with black cherry and black raspberry fruit over some stone... Read More
