Alsace : a climate blessed by the gods Thanks to its privileged geographical situation, Alsace is the driest wine region in France. Its micro-climate is caused by the distance which separates it from maritime influences, and by the protection of the Vosges mountains. This climate enables the grapes to ripen slowly to full maturity, giving the wine great finesse of aroma and unequalled intensity. A mosaic of soils Because of its complex geology, Alsace has an infinite multitude of combined soil types. Centuries of experience have taught the winegrowers how best to match each vine variety to each type of soil. Riquewihr : the most noble wines of all the country From the Middle Ages, Riquewihr was renowned for "the most noble wines of all the country". The Hugel family’s vineyard estates cover more than 25 hectares, exclusively in Riquewihr, and almost half of which are in the Grand Cru zone. No use of fertiliser, low yields, vines averaging thirty years of age, thinning out of excess bunches Read more »

I had really forgotten how much I love Alsatian wine. This one brought back the love. Full of creamy raisin fruit flavors with lime zest solid from nose to swallow, richly dimensional with a crisp structured finish. Read More

The nose was highly expressive with peach, Lemon curd, almond skins, yellow flowers and sweet cream. On the palate, it was soft and rich yet juicy with flavors of apricot, citrus and orange rind. The finish was remarkably long with citrus-tinged inner floral notes. Read More

Apples and a little minty spice greet the nose along with a slightly spicy vegetal note that recalls fennel. Very smooth in the mouth with good body and dry extract. You can feel this in the mouth though the acidity is well covered, leaving a wine with moderate richness but very little weight. The flavors are lightly orchard fruity with a hint o... Read More

Exhibiting lovely balance in the mouth, this seems light and bright on entry before the richness of fruit makes itself known on the mid-palate. Lovely depth of flavor with a hint... Read More
