Many of you may not know Charles personally, but we are quite sure that you have tasted his wines…Over the past two decades Charles has consulted for many prestigious labels such as Barnett Vineyards, Regusci Winery, Bacio Divino, Viader, along with several others during the last twenty years. Crafting ones own wine is the dream of almost all winemakers... hope & grace is a personal project that began with the unexpected opportunity to purchase Pinot Noir grapes from the renowned, Robert Talbott, Sleepy Hollow Vineyards, back in 2001. Having to move quickly to secure these amazing grapes, Charles needed a place to crush and store his new found fortune, and his friend Jim Regusci graciously lent a hand in getting started. Realizing that this was really happening, Charles was in search of a label and a name…he thought of two attributes that he has in life, his daughters, Hope & Grace Hendricks. • Hi everybody I'm a small store owner at the edge of the rust belt, my customers rarely spend over $20 for a bottle, and I am looking to improve my selection a bit beyond what is here now. If you have a minute to help a guy out let me know what you think are the best wines that usually sell for $20 or less. Thanks ! Read More

  • I mentioned this a while ago, but didn't get around to the post.  We stayed from September to end of December at a condominium in a complex built in the '70s. They've renovated and rebuilt since then (there were several major lawsuits for construction defects--built on fill!), but the architecture and the vibe is still very of that period. Our u... • It's interesting that a few new topics have popped up recently (Experiencing Cabernet Franc for one) and that my wife Sandra just today handed me an article by Dave McIntyre she cut out of a Washington Post newspaper dated 25 March 2015.  I'm starting this new topic based on this article "The wine cost four digits.  And the taste?" regarding the... • Hey, I hear that VTs are coming back, with one scheduled for March!  Not to steal the thunder, so I won't leak what the region/grape is going to be (regulars, watch your mail boxes if you live in the US), but it's going to be good if my inbox is any indication.I'm opening up the floor to ask the question, "Who do you think will be the host?"  Ma... • Mine started about six years ago when I met my wife.  We played volleyball in an adult league against each other and hit it off at the bar after.  We never drank wine together (only lots of beer) and the subject never came up.  We had been "dating" a few weeks when I invited her over to make us dinner.  She said she would bring a bottle of wine.... • So what’s not to like? 2010 Barolo is in the hype machine right now and as much as i would like to say that they hype machine is in overdrive, which it perennially is, this is one time where much might be warranted. that’s not to say that 2010 is a universally fabulous vintage. It simply is not with more than a handful of wines showing under-rip... Read More

  • California, the land of sunshine, free spirits, and big wines. Right? Yes, of course, all that is true but today we are seeing that free spirited attitude change the paradigm for wine production. Some might say that we are witnessing a return to a different style of wine. Fresher, lower in alcohol and having more in common with wines produced se... Read More

  • A big trend in Oz wine now is global warming and planting more Mediterranean varieties, heading for altitude and as far south latitude as possible with traditional varieties. Even Tasmania is getting warm enough to ripen the occasional Cabernet. I just hope the Hunter Valley keeps being able to produce its Semillon and Shiraz despite flood,fire,... Read More
