Description 1 of 1

Since the first vintage of wines produced in 1976, the wines quickly became known for their artistic proprietary blends: Thousand Flowers and Big Red. As much as the proprietary blends make up a large part of Hop Kiln’s past, the next generation of excellence came to light with the introduction of our ultra premium label, fondly referred to as “HKG”. In 2006 we began laying down the groundwork for a 100% estate grown wine with the release of the first bottling of HKG. We began the process of replanting the 248-acre property with mostly Burgundian brood: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Coupled with meticulous care by winemaker Chuck Mansfield and vineyard manager, David Smith, the result will be an all-estate production of our HKG starting in 2009. Hop Kiln Winery is committed to preserving the property’s colorful past and adventurous spirit, as well as realizing the full potential of their incredible real estate. Considered one of America’s best examples of a historic kiln still standing, the landmark hop kiln houses a tasting room, open year-round from 10am to 5pm daily. Hop Kiln Winery offers two scenic picnic areas- in the rose garden and along the banks of the duck pond. Guests are encouraged to enjoy Hop Kiln Winery’s wines coupled with an exciting array of gourmet food products many created by regional artisans, that include mustards, vinegars and sauces, as well as local cheeses and charcuterie. Tasting Room 10am-5pm every day except a few holidays – Description from jkennedy1
