Nestled at the foot of Wintergreen Resort and atop the rolling hills of the Rockfish Valley, sits Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery. Originally opened as a pick-your-own blackberry farm, the family owned and operated business expanded into a winery in the late 1990's. Founders, Marlyn and Sue Allen, were at the forefront of what is now a budding industry by being one of the first wineries in Virginia to offer specialty wines. The operation has grown to include not only a new line of historical wines, but a new generation of owners. Three sisters, Kimberly Allen Pugh, Crystal Allen Brennan, and Marlo Gayle Allen, are now the proud owners of this ever-growing family operation. Offering both indoor and outdoor meeting facilities, Hill Top promises to never outgrow its family roots and southern hospitality. – Description from JasminaDragoljevic

  • Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery Dragon's Breath NV

    Snoothrank:

Fermented honey with chipotle and jalapeno peppers. This has a great bite that paired excellently with sharp cheddar cheese. Really unique offering that basically saved a lackluster tasting. Read More

  • Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery Hunter's Moon NV

    Snoothrank:

I expected to like this pumpkin mead -- I love pumpkin goods and baking spice aromas -- but this was a huge disappointment. It doesn't taste like pumpkin, or frankly anything appetizing, at all. The notes and flavors are muddled and disjointed. I couldn't even bring myself to take a second sip. Read More

  • Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery Oracle NV

    Snoothrank:

The traditional name for this rose petal mead is Rhodomel. This would make a lovely springtime sipper. Not too sweet and actually develops across the palate, unlike many of Hill Top's offerings. Paired with smoked gouda. Read More

  • Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery Blackberry Monticello Delight Wine NV

    Snoothrank:

Deep, sweet and extracted blackberry wine. They recommend using it to make brownies which I can totally see working. Read More

  • Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery Little Heeler NV

    Snoothrank:

A true dessert wine made from fermented blueberries. Was really nice paired with a blueberry port truffle, but I wouldn't ever choose this just to sip on. Read More

As you might know this year’s event differed from those in years past as the event was broken down into additional components.  The trade and media portion of the Experience is now a discreet tasting, and the grand tasting has been broken out into sections, that took place on the g...
