Haus Marienberg-Mad
The family winery MAD – Haus Marienberg is in the wine growing area Neusiedlersee – Hügelland. In Oggau at the west coast from the Lake Neusiedl. We have 40 ha vineyard and produce 75% red wine and 25% white wine. The main grape variety is Blaufränkisch, after that is Zweigelt and the Welschriesling.
Our soils are very difficult. We hove loamy, black earth soils in the hill and sandy loess soils near the Lake Neusiedl. The region has a pannonian climate, with strictly winter and hot summer.
Matthias Siess and his son Sebastian works for the marketing and sales management. Christian Händler is the winemaker and his wife Rafaela is in the office. Tobias, the second son from Matthias helps his uncle in the cellar and in the vineyards. Maria Siess, Matthias wife, is the boss of the restaurant “Zum Hertröpferl”.
