Love. Laughter. Family. These are the three main ingredients we pour into every bottle of Harney Lane wine. Blended with delicious estate grown fruit, we meticulously produce small lots of handcrafted wines that bring out the best flavors Lodi Wine Country has to offer. In 1907, long before it was fashionable to go wine tasting, our ancestors planted their first vineyard just east of Lodi, along rural Harney Lane. In time the family home was built, which would bear witness to the lives of five generations of grape growers intent on perfecting their farming skills. Our family philosophy: Whatever you choose to do in life, do it to the best of your ability. For generations, that's how we've treated farming, and now, that's how we develop our wines. – Description from HarneyLane

  • Harney Lane Zinfandel Lodi Old Vine Lizzy James Vineyard 2012

The wine is a lovely deep garnet color in the glass. The nose is just fantastic, with jammy fruit, blackberry, plum and some earthy notes of leather and toasted oak. The taste is surprisingly crisp despite the jammy fruit on the nose, with some notes of tart cherry, blackberry and plum and a hint of rosemary and vanilla. Really nice complexit... Read More

  • There’s nothing quite like having wine friends. After all, our mutual topic of interest is a social lubricant. But there’s so much more to it, as Snooth’s recent blogger trip will attest. Earlier this month we had the opportunity to explore one of the country’s oldest and up-and-coming wine regions: Lodi, California. It still amazes me that a si... Read More

  • Update, day 3, part 1I must start this post by saying that I don’t generally gravitate toward Zins, but yesterday’s visits may have helped to change my mind. As wine journalist Randy Caporoso said, there’s a reason why nobody ever tried to pull out these old vines. The fruit they produce is just too good. The day began with visits to four differe... • Wanted to add... Lodi, IMO, is meant for whites.  Rhone whites.  Spanish whites.  I think the zin thing is overrated, and many are too big and fruity for that climate and fertile soil.  Harney Lane made a decent Albarino that I used to enjoy. The hidden gem is Acquiesce winery, which ONLY does white rhone varietals/blends.  Read More

Any other patrons in the tasting room were given complimentary tastings, but since we came in a group we were charged $5 per person.
