Love. Laughter. Family. These are the three main ingredients we pour into every bottle of Harney Lane wine. Blended with delicious estate grown fruit, we meticulously produce small lots of handcrafted wines that bring out the best flavors Lodi Wine Country has to offer. In 1907, long before it was fashionable to go wine tasting, our ancestors planted their first vineyard just east of Lodi, along rural Harney Lane. In time the family home was built, which would bear witness to the lives of five generations of grape growers intent on perfecting their farming skills. Our family philosophy: Whatever you choose to do in life, do it to the best of your ability. For generations, that's how we've treated farming, and now, that's how we develop our wines. – Description from HarneyLane

  • Wanted to add... Lodi, IMO, is meant for whites.  Rhone whites.  Spanish whites.  I think the zin thing is overrated, and many are too big and fruity for that climate and fertile soil.  Harney Lane made a decent Albarino that I used to enjoy. The hidden gem is Acquiesce winery, which ONLY does white rhone varietals/blends.  Read More

  • Last week I began my summer time look at Zinfandel by focusing on Mendocino and lake counties, two regions that have limited presence in the Zin lovers mind. Today I'm taking a different tact and focusing instead on lodi, a veritable Zin lovers paradise. Why you ask?Well simply put it's a region that not only has a great climate for Zinfandel, wi... • Harney Lane Zinfandel Lodi 2011

    Snoothrank:

Some sweet charry oak spice and vanilla notes lurks under big blueberry tinged blackberry fruit on the nose with just a hint of blood orange. Plush, broad and yet deep on the palate, with great fruit that has a deep briary core, Grapy with that hint of blood orange on the palate as well. A palate which is packed with jammy blackberry fruit, an... Read More

  • Harney Lane Zinfandel Lodi Old Vine Lizzy James Vineyard 2011

    Snoothrank:

Deep, oak framed slightly musky aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and boysenberry greets the nose with hints of hickory nuts and pipe briar along with a nuance of peppercorn adding detail. Bright acids on entry, rather transparent in the mouth with lots of cranberry accented cherry fruit, that turns more toward the blackberry spectrum with v... Read More

  • Recently I was pleasantly surprised by a visit to Lodi, California. Long the source of well-priced, consumer friendly wines, not to mention the boost they give many of our favorite national brands, Lodi continues to work mostly off the center stage of wine in the USA. There are many reasons for this of course, from consumer preferences to the gr... Read More

  • Harney Lane Zinfandel Port NV

    Snoothrank:

This is spicy on the nose and while it does show some alcohol its rich with aromas of dark dried fruits and dark chocolate. Moderately sweet on the palate, this shows a little spice, and chocolate accenting the core of fresh fruit on the with good clarity. A big burst of spicy fruit on the backend reveals a light oxidative note which turns int... Read More

  • Harney Lane Petite Sirah Lodi 2010

    Snoothrank:

Dark and inky on the nose which is full of powerful tree bark, spice and peppery aromas. A touch soft in the mouth with a broad, chewy, expansive mouthfeel packed with muscular black fruit. This is chewy but not heavy, and it finishes with length and power with lots of coffee bean and spice framed wild blueberry and blackberry fruit. 92pts Read More

  • Harney Lane Tempranillo Lodi 2010

    Snoothrank:

Tobacco, spice and well judged oak come together on the nose along with dark raspberry fruit. The earthy spice is obvious on entry along with nice acids that lend good clarity to the core of raspberry fruit. This does show a hint of sweetness, buffering fine chalky tannins, all creating a nice if rustic textural package. A touch minty on the bac... Read More
