Harmony Cellars is a small family-owned winery committed to producing fine wines at affordable prices. Founded in 1989 by Chuck and Kim Mulligan, the winery has grown from a 2,000 case micro winery to a 5,500 case boutique production facility. Chuck, the winemaker, is still a one-man show for 80+ tons of grapes crushed annually. If you have tasting room questions or would like to purchase from a selection of unique gift items, Kim and her staff are there to assist you daily. They pride themselves on superior customer service and prompt shipment of wine orders. You will certainly enjoy the small town ambiance and rural setting at the Harmony Cellars location. Winemaking in Harmony is not new and the tradition harks back to the late 1800s. Kim's great-grandfather, Giacomo Barloggio, a founder of the old creamery cooperative in "downtown" Harmony, used to make homemade wine down in his basement. Today's winery sits on a part of Giacomo's original land holdings; land that's been in Kim's family for four generations. Nestled in the hills overlooking the quaint, artisan town of Harmony, just off Highway 1, Harmony Cellars Winery produces award-winning wines and offers a remarkable view of the coastal countryside. • Thought this was an interesting mailer I'd share with you all. Already forwarded the e-mail to Fox as he is one of the few champions of Dolcetto that I know. This would also fit in well with the "weekday wines" thread. Fox and I agreeing it's a good week day pasta night wine, or even a 1st wine in a flight of Northern Italian Reds. To all Best W... • After a brief introduction to the the state of Washington this past Monday I reported on my  visits to wineries in Walla Walla on Tuesday. Today I am reporting on visits both in Prosser, which lies roughly between Walla Walla and Seattle in the Yakima Valley as well as to wineries located basically within Seattle’s metropolitan footprint. As I’v... Read More

  • Cline CellarsI hate wine! That has been my stubborn defense for more than 40 years, through three marriages, countless dinners and parties, and numerous conversations with friends and strangers having to explain why.So what then, could possibly be my credentials for writing a guide to wine? • Super expensive, yet again. Some think that the en primeur campaign is now being played out in more dynamic economies like China and Brazil, but the way things are going, it looks increasingly like a speculative bubble, with chateaux releasing less wine at higher prices - feeding a speculative frenzy. It would be better to not bother in most cas... Read More

  • Cabernet Sauvignon: It’s one of the big daddies of the wine world, and the wines from California, in particular Napa Valley, can compete with the best, and have the price tags to prove it. We can lament the change that has occurred with the vast majority of Napa Cabernets over the past decade or two, or we can simply continue to look for quality... Read More

  • Tenuta Valdipiatta is a property full of surprises, the first of which is the road one takes to get there. Well, let me clarify that: If, like me, you assume you know where you are and where you’re going, you might end up on a distinctly rough road that leads, via the vineyard roads, right to the Tenuta. Now, this road -- the wrong road -- i... Read More

  • We began this day wanting to explore more of the Silverado Trail.  Stops in Cliff Lede, Robert Sinskey and Stags Leap Wine Cellars were nice to see, but we did not taste here.  I have had most of the Lede and SLWC wines on the list, so I didn't see a point in tasting there.  All of them want $25 or more for a tasting and they don't even pour tha...
