"Producers have turned The Valley’s pristine cool climate grapes into honest wines. Sophisticated farming and winemaking techniques and recently developed clones from France alongside long time resident vineyards, enhance the varietal mix, making Pinot Noir The Valley’s premier wine. A perfect climate for Pinot Noir lured the French house of Champagne Roederer to the valley in the 1980's when it established Roederer Estate planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1989 the French champagne house Pomeroy acquired existing vineyards and renamed them Pacific Echo. It is no longer accurate to describe Anderson Valley Pinots as elegant, delicate wines focusing on bright red-cherry fruit and refreshing acidity. They are all of that, but now they are joined by others that offer more depth of flavor, richer, more diversely flavored fruit than ever before (thanks to new clones) and complexities that are dazzling." – Description from JasminaDragoljevic

  • We're heading back to (my favorite wine region) Russian River the first weekend in October and are looking for advice on what to do and what to expect.  We've been to RRV several times but only during the off season.  Is there anything special we should do at this time of year, and conversely, is there anything we should avoid? • Harmonique Pinot Noir Anderson Valley the Noble One 2004

    Snoothrank:

I was surprised at the bite of this one! Could have cellared for a few more years, for sure. Required decanting to loosen up the alcohol (14.7%). It was bold and spicy with a long finish. Darker red fruit, along with some woodsy notes. Read More
