Now, however, it seems all I drink are varietals from Australia or California, as I tend to enjoy their qualities better than wines from other countries. One of my favorite wines is the Australian Reserve Shiraz. It has such a deep, intense flavor, filled with tannins that are pronounced but not overbearing, and a hint of blueberry. A bit obviously oaky on the nose with chocolate covered pomegranate aromas along with some exotic floral spice notes dominating the nose. Smooth and rich, if even a bit lean in the mouth. Theres some lovely sour cherry flavors here along with the chocolate covered pomegranate found on the nose all laid out over fairly well integrated vanilla a... Read More

  • Thanks EMark. So let's lift my Merlot budget to under $20.  I tried Columbia Crest Grand Estates Merlot earlier this year and the flavor was weak with zero finish so I plan to stay away from their merlots. My fabulous local liquor store has 2 reasonably priced Merlots I've been considering: Annabella and Greg Norman Limestone Cabernet-Merlot.
