  • too bad the winery went belly up, I enjoyed the wines in years past as part of the guerillas. Obviously, dysfunctional relations and someone with an axe to grind is killing the wines here...Not great but not as awful as described!

  • Graeser Succulence Merlot Dessert Wine 2007

    Snoothrank:

With an unbalanced one-two of scorching alcohol and pure sugar, this manages to bring the worst possible characteristics in dessert wine to the fore. Very little fruit shows, the alcohol is sky-high, and a persistent burnt taste hangs on the palate for minutes afterward. Don't recommend. Read More

  • Graeser Succulence Merlot Dessert Wine 2007

    Snoothrank:

Extremely viscous, with a slightly ashy taste. Very high in residual sugar. Very low in fruit aromatics--mostly unripe raspberries. Has a pronounced alcoholic burn. Don't really know what's going on with this producer. Read More

  • Graeser Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2004

    Snoothrank:

Thin, with little fruit. Blessedly this bottle was actually not corked. However, the color of the wine (and how terribly brown around the rim it is) would indicate that the absence of fruit in the bouquet and on the aromatics is not going to be remedied by further cellaring. Don't know what's wrong with this producer. Can't recommend. Read More

  • Lousy hospitality: the woman who was conducting our tasting ducked outside in the middle of it. She then spent the next twenty minutes shrieking at the owner. It sounded like a domestic dispute. We ended up leaving without our fourth pour, which, given the quality of the wine, wasn't that big of a loss. But still...

  • Graeser Cabernet Franc Estate Grown 2004

    Snoothrank:

Thin, tired, with very little fruit. What little there is is reminiscent of sour cherry. Slight herbal note, too, finishing sharply green. Cork had an off-smell, too. Something seems to be wrong with this producer. Read More

  • Graeser Winery Semillon 2005

    Snoothrank:

Egads, this is bad. Varnish and fruit cocktail on the nose, with a whiff of rubber cement on the back. Bottle also was full of tartarates. Not able to recommend. Read More

  • Graeser Coeur de Leon Diamond Mountain 2005

    Snoothrank:

Almost insanely bad. Glue-like bouquet with no fruit. Crumbly cork. Hard to know whether it was wrong from the get-go, or just badly bottled and poorly cellared before being sold to unsuspecting customers. Read More

  • It looks like it's out of business? Has seemed to be shut the past three times we've tried to visit it. Skip it, would be my advice---the wine was never very good, anyway.

  • Just skip this winery---no new releases since who-knows-when, the general public should just embrace Graeser's going-out-of-business plan, and allow the thing to sink into the murk of the swamp.
