It has been more than hundred years since California wine pioneer Jean Laurent quarried stone from the base of Glass Mountain in Napa Valley to build his wine cellar. That cellar stands today and serves as both a literal and figurative link to the past and Laurent's guiding principles of quality and values. In 1978, Bruce Markham, a California businessman with a passion for wine, purchased the old winery and launched Markham Vineyards, the parent of Glass Mountain Wines. From the beginning, Bruce Markham's vision was to make quality wines, while contributing to the preservation and growth of the wine industry. As a result, The Markham Winery has developed a reputation of high regard as a producer of world-class wines. Commitment to producing exceptional wines has earned Markham the cover of Wine Spectator magazine and a steady stream of accolades from the press. – Description from JasminaDragoljevic

  • We hosted another high-end wine dinner last night with our neighbors Rick & Debbie coming over.  They are the ones that got us started in this tasty wine thing, and they recommended Duckhorn and Barnett wineries in Napa Valley to us when we did our first wine trip to Napa several years ago.  We started at 6 PM with rain coming down (I was planni... • Symington is an iconic name in wine. For over four generations the Symington name has been synonymous with high quality port. If the name is unfamiliar their port houses are certainly not; Graham’s, Cockburn, Dow, and Warre are among the best producers in the world. After spending week with the Symington’s I came away with a few observations: Fi... Read More

  • I tasted through a selection of Chenin Blanc for #CheninBlancDay last June. Right off the bat I knew we had to bring these wines to the Snooth audience.  I was hoping to do it in the winter months for one very good reason: South African Chenin Blanc retains startlingly robust fruits (more than enough to stand up to warming winter dishes), while ... Have had earlier vintages of this label (both whites and reds, though more of the whites with raclette, etc.) when snowboarding in Chamonix and Val d'Isère, and it's (very) good stuff.
