The name “Gabriel Meffre” evokes first of all the company’s founder, Monsieur Gabriel Meffre, who established Maison Gabriel Meffre in 1936 in Gigondas which became one of the most important wineries in the Rhóne Valley. Our prime objective has always been to provide wines that meet your expectations. Throughout the years, we have increased our experience and knowledge while extending to the Languedoc region: Our winegrower knowledge, through Domaine de Longue Toque & Château Grand Escalion. Respectful of our terroir and our environment, we manage the vineyards through the principles of “sustainable agriculture” (Terra Vitis Label”) Our negociant experience, through our wines selection. Over the years, we’ve established strong relationships with our viticultural partners. We chose them according to strict specifications and their dedication to our environmental concerns. Our oenologists are present with the producers at every step of the winemaking process. This ensures that our wines Read more »

  • Gabriel Meffre Plan de Dieu Côtes du Rhône Villages "Saint Mapalis" 2014

    Snoothrank:

The 2014 Saint Mapalis from the windswept flatland of Plan de Dieu (God's Plan) near Cairanne is excellent. There is the candied blueberry nose with a touch of sagebrush (well, maybe garrigue) and there is a clean, blueberry-infused, metallic entry without harshness or heavy tannin. It lacks only the density of the best villages. Finish is medi... Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Cotes du Rhone "Saint Vincent" 2014

    Snoothrank:

The 2014 edition of "Saint Vincent" is delicious - much like the previous 2 editions - and affordable by almost everyone. The elegant, pear, tisane and gooseberry flavours are clean, pure and without edge - surprising at this price point. Though intended for immediate consumption, due to the Roussane component could last 2 more years in bottle... Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Plan de Dieu Cotes du Rhone Village "Saint-mapalis" 2013

    Snoothrank:

This elegant, modestly priced wine from the Plan de Dieu region of the southern Rhone valley is perfect café fare. Scented with cherries and crushed cranberry plus a touch of garrigue (or maybe sage), it is inviting. Entry is gentle, somewhat light (thinner than 2012) and refreshingly clean. This is a real find for the student or the person on... Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Cotes-du-Rhone "Saint Vincent" 2013

    Snoothrank:

In seeking out some good restaurant whites for the summer, I came across this Rhone white which reflects the inclusion of Roussanne in the blend - lending the nose a subtle white fruit scent of kiwi, gooseberry, fresh concrete and soft herbs. The entry is soft, with spring water cleanliness and pear-like flavours. For the price, you get gentle... Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Plan de Dieu Cotes du Rhone Villages "Saint-mapalis" 2012

    Snoothrank:

This regular Southern Rhone offering has an excellent sweet cherry nose exuding the essence of Grenache; on the palate, there is more of the same with withering red fruit flavors, some stem-like acerbity and soft tannin on the finish. This is slightly above the usual café style in (say) Gigondas. 85 points. Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Chateauneuf-du-Pape "Saint-theodoric" 2010

    Snoothrank:

This 2010 is quite modern in style with a rather medium body, cherry-garrigue nose and good balance. Not particularly powerful, but has sufficient density to age through the remainder of the decade (2020). Enjoyable now. 89 points. Read More

  • Gabriel Meffre Cotes du Rhone "Saint-vincent" 2012

    Snoothrank:

This "entry level" white Cotes-du-Rhone from a well-known Gigondas producer hits well above its price-point; I love the white garden flower nose and tisane-like notes (Roussanne) on the palate along with sweet pear. There is a youthful stem acerbity, but some cellaring may offset this feature of the wine. Very impressive for the price! 88 points. Read More

I bought two bottles of this wine from the website ...
