Fredericksburg Winery was named by U.S.A. Today as one of the top three wineries in Texas. The Fredericksburg Winery is |located in a 10,600 square foot tacitly on Main Street in Fredericksburg. The actual wine production is done here. P|ease note a "winery" is where you make wine, a "vineyard" is where you grow grapes. Vineyards are farms whose crops happen to be grapes. (Refer to the section Wine Terms - What They Rea||y Mean or Wine Terms Without the Pooh-Pooh on this site). Wineries and vineyards are not mutually exclusive nor mutually inclusive but the vast majority of vineyards do not- repeat do not have wineries. By the same token some wineries do not have vineyards. This concept is tor the most part worldwide not just Texas, in California there are more than 20,000 vineyards but on|y a little more than 2000 wineries. – Description from Dragac

  • Just thought I'd add a little something to the "wine I would not drink again...given a choice" thread. I returned from Texas last month, and must say things haven't changed much in "Hill Country", basically Lodi on steroids. For those of you that haven't experienced the Lone Star State's take on wine, it's quite interesting. I started off mid-mo... Read More

  • Ok, new year and time for a new topic of discussion.  Just yesterday I opened this Pinot Noir from California that initially sounded promising.  First  - it was given to Sandra as a retirement gift so it was free.  Second - a Pinot Noir bottled in St. Helena CA, so it has to be decent, right? and Third - a nice looking label.  Well, this 2014 Me... • Ah, a lazy Sunday at home.  Sandra just returned from Fredericksburg VA (an afternoon of Bach & Bordeaux) with her friend Marlene, and I've been bumming around on my computers all day.  Now she is making some home-made pasta on her new pasta machine and I'm pouring a Bordeaux-style Virginia wine to complement it.  Life is good here in Northern V... • I was wondering what sort of new topic I could start that would pair nicely with my previous posting 'Weekday Wines'; well here it is - Weekend Wines.  Sometimes I just have to stop and take a minute to pat myself on the back for my quick wit but alas, this isn't one of those times.  Anyway, why not talk about wines we enjoy on weekends?  These ... Snoothrank:

This bottle can only be purchased if you visit the winery in Fredericksburg, TX. Unfortunately, as an attempt to age my bottle, I held on to it too long and it went through traumatic temperature and humidity changes when my small apartment in Galveston, TX was flooded by Hurricane Ike. I was unable to rescue the bottle until 1 month later. None ... Read More
