We have been producing estate wines since 1880, the year in which the present-day winery was established. A family-run estate, it was handed down through the generations to the first-born son Franz Haas. Through the years and the constant commitment of its owners and employees, this wine making estate has evolved into today's innovative winery. We vinify grapes from 50 hectares of vineyards, of which 28 hectares are estate-grown or rented, while the balance comes from vine growers with plots in particularly vocated microareas.

  • Franz Haas Pinot Nero 2009

    Snoothrank:

I really like the color, more Burgundian than California or Oregon. The nose was delicious cherry with fresh berry aroma. On the palate a taste of cherry with raspberry being slightly more dominate. Tannins were light to medium but enough to give this wine some nice structure. The finish was a little short but pleasant. This wine could easily be... Read More

  • Franz Haas Pinot Nero 2009

    Snoothrank:

Franz Haas Pinot Nero has a nice pale-red colour, with fascinating red fruits aromas (raspberry, cranberry). This Pinot Nero has a very good equilibrium between sweetness, salty notes and acidity and a long lasting taste.Good to appreacite with "primi piatti" or main dishes of meat (beef, lamb, pork). • Unfortunately I had to work late and missed the webcast. We popped the whites with dinner. The Caldera Pinot Bianco was our favorite with its bright lemon lime fruit. The Castelfeder Pinot Grigio seemed to have undergone too much malo and was a bit on the buttery side. It also had an effervescence that I didn't really enjoy. A lot of the Albarin... Read More

  • I am a dyed in the wool fan of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlots, Sangiovese's and a few Chardonnays and Pinot Grigio's. I am trying to widen my spectrum to include Pinot Noir's. I live in the Pacific Northwest so the Pinot Noir's are readily available due to the large varieties from Oregon. Before I embark on purchasing some different brands I would l... Read More
