The company was founded in 1870, when our grandfather, Giovanni, left Diano d'Alba and walked to Barolo, where he had just inherited a vineyard and a house. As he was a fine wine-dresser, he was immediately conquered by the subtle charm of these hills. Some years later he was supported by the help of his sons and today the business is run by his descedants, who love this evocative little world jus like he did. – Description from AlexJelena

  • Francesco Rinaldi Nebbiolo d'Alba 2012

    Snoothrank:

1 year in wood. Fruit from Roddi Rose petals and chalk pop on the nose over a peach base note with a hint of va adding lift to the classic rose hips and raspberry/strawberry in alcohol aromas. Nice raw tannins on entry support lovey burnished sour cherry fruit in the mouth that is framed by hint of watermelon peel, and sandalwood accents. With... Read More

  • Rinaldi Francesco Barbaresco 2010

    Snoothrank:

2 years in big wood Old wood, rose hips, hints of clove oil come together on the spicy nose along with slightly stewy cherry fruit, very aromatic with some newer wood here as well. Lean, fresh, and precise with tightly wound tannins in the mouth, moderately rich, with a little strawberry note on the backend. This is elegant in the mouth with a s... Read More

  • Francesco Rinaldi Barbera d'Alba 2012

    Snoothrank:

Hints of ruby red grapefruit, violet, and soil tones all add attractive complexity to the core of black fruit aromas on the nose. Unusually this shows some new wood on the nose. with a lovely texture, this displays fresh. tart red berry fruit on the palate with integrated but bright acids that are very palate cleansing. Theres a little grapefru... Read More

  • Francesco Rinaldi Barolo Cannubi 2010

    Snoothrank:

This smells women's perfume, all floral and subtly citrusy with a core of plum in alcohol over white soil tones. Really so floral, pretty and pure on the nose, its quite remarkable. Tight, on entry with superb focus, this is fabulous and seamless, if a bit short today. You can feel that this his has big fruit in reserve on the gorgeous, spicy he... Read More

  • Francesco Rinaldi Barolo 2010

    Snoothrank:

Stemmy, smoky, and dotted with tobacco, baking chocolate, and little coffee notes over a base of beef blood and astringent red fruit, and dried citrus peels. Almost a bit soft on entry, then turning broad and juicy with lots of ripe tannins supporting nice red raspberry and cherry fruit. This is a bit chunky in the mouth with earthy, complex an... • Francesco Rinaldi Roussot Dolcetto d'Alba 2013

    Snoothrank:

Oddly sliced peaches are the first notes I get on the nose followed by a rather assertive floral white flower and Iris note. Air brings out some rust and rhubarb but this remains a bit coy on the nose. On entry this is notably structured, a bit medicinal and white earth toned, with austere tannins, in a strict, austere, and unrelentingly Cannubi... Read More

Botte for one year, from plots in La Morra, Novello, and Barolo, all told makes 7000 bottles A bit buttery at first, then turning savory and intense with clean, fresh aromas of , ivy with some soapy floral tones layered under brambly berry fruit framed with hints of violets, mace and nutmeg. Wonderfully pure and fairly intense in the mouth if ... Read More

  • Francesco Rinaldi Figli & Barolo Cannubbio 2009

    Snoothrank:

Immediate dirty barrel on the nose, this also takes air to clean up, and when it does theres great tobacco, rosebud, dried herb, and baked soil aromas here. On entry this is cool, crisp, and open with fine ripe tannins, great focus and good complexity on the palate. There are lovely flavors of wild raspberries layered with savory, umami notes of... This is very clean and fresh on the nose with strong notes of raspberries framed by light herbal accents and a touch of white pepper. Nice fruit on entry with real cut to the palate, which delivers a clean and pure expression of red berry, raspberry fruit with fine tannins, bright acids and a nice soft finish. This is juicy and bright with reall... Read More

  • Francesco Rinaldi Barolo Cannubi 2008

    Snoothrank:

The nose here is rather fine with light mint, wild herbs, jammy raspberry and lingonberry notes. On the palate, this comes off as rather cool, crisp and focused with fine balance to the herbal notes that sit atop the core of sour and slightly bitter cherry fruit. Theres a really fine acid/tannin balance here. This shows good power on the back en... Read More
