The cliffs of the Adige Valley change their appearance as the light shifts across them: awe inspiring when they are veiled by shade or darkened by a heavy sky; and enchanting when the sun shines on them, as they are tinted with delicate shades of pink. The river too changes its mood as the weather changes: when there is bad weather, its rough waters become a whirlpool of green and blue, while on calm evenings they become a sparkling silver ribbon. No one with a sensitive soul can cross this land without being touched by its beauty. After the narrow Salorno Gorge, visitors travelling from the north are welcomed by the marvellous sight of a wide valley. Vineyards and orchards are scattered among these rocky outcrops. Near San Michele all’Adige, on the right bank of the Adige River, a wide plain unfolds beneath the mountains: its name is Campo Rotaliano. This is where the Teroldego, one of the country’s best grapes, thrives. Despite its charm and beauty, this stretch of country is still waiting to be Read more »

  • Foradori Teroldego Rotaliano Granato 1995

    Snoothrank:

Smoky on the nose with a minor peat note this still shows some wood backed by lovely, smoky fruit with touches of honey-suckle, cool menthol, and dried hay. The aromas are sweet and appealing if a touch animal. On entry this is soft and very juicy with a really fresh cherry fruit tone, and a touch of almond,. This remains fresher and fruitier th... • Foradori Sgarzon Vigneti Delle Dolomiti IGT 1995

    Snoothrank:

lots of earth and shale on the nose but this remains fresh but evolving with lovely mushroom and floral flower notes, sour cherry fruit, and a lovely Porcini top note. Theres a touch of VA here that weaves in and out of the bouquet making the nose here a bit of a moving target. Dark, dried fruit (cherry and berry) dominate the mid-palate while... Read More

  • Foradori Granato 1996

    Snoothrank:

This features a dark nose with funghi and mineral overtones and a deep and intense core of fruit with cedar, white peppercorn, and cacao tinged oak notes. This is very broad with superb acids and soft tannins. Theres a touch smoldering campfire embedded in the very ripe fruits, but really stays fresh with decent length. Certainly still fruity, b... • Foradori Teroldego Sgarzon 1996

    Snoothrank:

A lovely and complex nose full of mulberry salame, meaty, roasty, mineral, rocky, floral, and dried pine, tones. In the mouthy this is sweet, round and fleshy yet retains delicacy and finesse. This fairly dances across the palate with juicy, black plums, and fine depth of dark earth and mineral spice on a sleek frame built for a speed. Streamlin... Read More

  • Foradori Granato Vigneti Delle Dolomiti IGT 1997

    Snoothrank:

A touch of soapy floral and vegetal tones greet the nose though this seems very tight. It remains floral and herbal smelling on the nose while it sweetens up considerably in the mouth with nice, bright, spicy fruit tones. Its very pure and clean with direct black currant fruit that is intense, if a touch simple and finishes on the short side. 88pts Read More

  • Granato 2006

    Snoothrank:

A classic expression of Teroldego on the nose with mineral driven, tarry, animale (-) black fruit tones. This gains a touch of floral and apricot like fruit though it smells a touch woody, as well. Really fine and precise in the mouth with mineral tones right up front, juicy berry fruit on the mid-palate, and a fresh finish that does show a tou... Read More

  • Foradori Granato 2003

    Snoothrank:

very tight on the nose with not much going on, some graphite and jammy black fruit with a nice mineral edge emerges with air. This is rich and soft in the mouth though there are solid acids here. The fruit is fairly dark at first then decidedly cherry and more opaque with some bitter wood tannin on the finish. A rich wine with goof length but on... Read More
