Flight on Snooth

  • Alberti 154 Malbec 2013

    Snoothrank:

Had this as part of a Flight yesterday during Lunch. Opens smoky with bits of sour cherries, plum, and chocolate. Well balanced Tannins and Acidity with a very soft and round mouthfeel. Long finish and the more it sat in the glass, the more it developed with herbs and oak. Very well priced at $8 per glass. Read More

  • Another evening out, this being a Friday.  We dined in Chinatown this time ... but at a new venue called Flight Wine Bar.  We started by each ordering a white flight (Not your Grandmother's Chardonnay for Allen and Ottoman Empire Whites for Sandra) along with some olives, crackers and dip and a swordfish dish.  We followed that up with red flig... • Hey everybody - I just came back from my trip, so a quick update is in order. ... conspired to make me miss my flight so, sadly, Madrid was out of the question. I could have still taken a train but it would have been a loooong trip.So instead, I got up very early Thursday morning and drove myself to Beaune and then Dijon, France. I toured seve... Read More

  • Yes, welcome to the forum Estella.  Many of us have enjoyed Ridge wines, ... and then we each selected a flight of red wine ('GSM' for me, 'Cabernet and Friends' for Sandra - look at the menu below) along with the 'ENO Experience' which is a plate of charcuterie.  The wine was expensive here but very nice.  My favorite from the GSM was the mid... • So I got the ball rolling... I just paid $230 for a round trip flight Frankfurt<->Madrid and a decent hotel with good ratings next to the airport for two nights. I'm sure they'll extract another 100 euros out of me before I'm done, but this is still pretty cheap!I may just rent a car, rather than trying to take trains to Requena. I've driven in ... Read More

  • DMCKER- thanks for the info. You are probably right about Rioja. It looks like ... base- just because there are flight options there that work (and are cheap to boot). It seems there are fewer & more expensive flights directly to Valencia. But the hotel is cheap in Madrid, and the train ride to Requena-Utiel looks to be 1.5 hours and are runni... Read More

  • Gosh... decisions... Dijon sounds good- I haven't been there. I've been ... a cheap EasyJet or RyanAir flight Wednesday night (or perhaps an overnight train with a sleeper car). Then I'll take an early flight back to Frankfurt Friday to catch my flight home with an extra suitcase (or 2) full of wine. (I've got WineSkin bags and cardboard boxes ... Read More

  • I'll be in Germany next week, and once I arrive I plan to drag my jet-lagged self to Alsace, France to tour a few wineries there (a couple hours from Frankfurt). BUT- I'm not really into white wines as much as reds, though I don't mind Gewurtzraminer and Dry Riesling. But I am thinking of taking a day off toward the end of the week. I can get pre... Read More

  • EM - I just know that Pauillac Bordeaux was a good wine, even though I ... off ... ... off with the white wine flight and I had the higher-end (Acclaimed) red flight.  We each had a flat bread and then one more side; mushroom soup for Sandra and duck lollipops for myself.  Our full glasses were the Chenin Blanc for Sandra and the Grenache ble...
