Five H is a wine label that represents five unique individuals with five different life journeys; two well-traveled and three still awaiting their adventures. Above all, Five H embodies each Hinman family member: Doyle, Sue Ann, Chelsea, Brady and Cody. This new wine concept marks a return to the beginning of the Hinman family’s journey, when Doyle made his first wines nearly thirty years ago at Hinman Vineyards, Lane County’s oldest winery. Five H is dedicated to offering special wines that represent the very best of the Pacific Northwest, signified by its wines, Five H 2006 Columbia Valley White Riesling and Five H 2006 Heritage.

  • Getting back your roots is a matter of blending, according to a story this past by The Australian's Max Allen.  “In our modern world we've become obsessed with single varietal wines, where each type of grape is kept separate from the others in the vineyard and the winery – planted on its own, picked on its own, fermented on its own, bottle on it... • I’m part Irish, but I’m not sure how much. I’m not Catholic and my surname is decidedly English. But the family tree has branches throughout the British Isles and I sit here today with blond hair, a red beard, freckles, and the inability to get a tan. On top of that, my grandmother plays about a dozen instruments and has often gone to Ireland to... Read More

  • As a wine consumer I love to read about others experiences with wine, but one of the most frustrating things is when you read about a great wine that you simply cannot find. With over 100,000 different wines made every year and at best only a few thousand of those making it on to your local stores' shelves, searching down a specific wine can be ... Read More

  • There was a conversation on WB started on this topic...I had always assumed alcohol dissipated over time slowly. I believe Mike Officer posted a range, referencing one of the 1st growth chateau in Bordeaux, of 0.3% - 0.8% every 20 years. That number sounded reasonable to me, but I'm not aware of the facts surrounding this.I kind of figure old wi... Read More

  • We are looking for great values, and you can find them from just about every region on earth except for a small handful of regions that seem to only do well with wines that start at what no one I know is calling a value price. On the flip side, there are many wine producing regions around the globe that seem almost incapable of cracking through ... Read More
