The winery was founded in 1973, when Fred and Juelle purchased 100 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains on the western slope of Spring Mountain. There, they built a winery tucked in among the vines and Douglas Firs. The winery itself is a product of the estate, having been built from the timber that was cut and milled on-site and crafted into an award-winning facility by their good friend and architect, William Turnbull. In 1976, the family found another 57 acres on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. The property runs from the Napa River to the Eastern Vaca Range, adjacent to the famed Eisele Vineyard, and is the source of our Lamb Vineyard Cabernet, Coach Insignia Cabernet and Cameron, Bordeaux Blend. – Description from Fisher Vineyards

  • I think JD is correct when you talk about Cab Sauv. Best is from Napa and you pay. But look at Washington. Andrew Will, Pepper Bridge, Woodward Canyon, and Betz are a few to start with. Andrew Will is a great wine for people who like classic Bordeaux. The mass-market Chateau St. Michelle Cab or Merlot is actually pretty decent for what you pay. A... Read More

  • Despite my somewhat feeble attempts trying to find US wine in Australia is frustratingSo I think I would like to build a list of high Quality but not astronomic priced wines my American Snooth Colleagues would suggest I look out forBare in mind that if it is from a very small niche producer I would need to know how I can source it in AustraliaSo... • Dmucker - Cayuse makes a few bottlings. That's an interesting one because I'm not sure where I'd put them. but they may fit in. Copain isn't quite in that group, but I do like their wines - recently went through a case because they have big bottoms and I was running out of boxes.I'm no expert, but after 15 wines from different vineyards, I think... • I love N. Rhone Syrah.  It's my favorite red wine in France.  But the acreage of the region is so small and the area that provide its best wines even smaller, that prices have hit the roof.  Sure, there are a few St. Josephs and Crozes-Hermitages that come in around $25, but those are either made for earlier drinking and a lot less thrilling wit... • Fisher Moutain Estate Sonoma County Chardonnay 2004

    Snoothrank:

Very fragrant wine with juicy acid on the nose. Hints of lychee, bubblegum, green herbs and an almost gooseberry jam tone. On the palate, it's big, bold and ripe with earth, pear, apple and citrus notes and lychee. The finish shows creamy hazelnut and vanilla. Really nice! Read More
