  • So far I’ve worked my way through a pretty impressive set of wines that ... by the case.  2009 Fattoria Selvapiana Bucerchiale Riserva, Chianti Rufina $28-$35 Year and year out Bucerchiale is one of my favorite wines. This is not from the Chianti Classico region but rather from Rufina where one finds wines that are usually rather austere and r... Read More

  • Selvapiana Vigneto Bucerchiale Chianti Rufina Reserva 2009

    Snoothrank:

More vegetative and menthol driven than other chiantis I have tried, with a crisp oaky layer on the aroma. The mouth is dry, with a little bit of strawberry fruit in the finish. Drinkable overall. Read More

  • Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2010

    Snoothrank:

Easy drinker that I paired with spaghetti on Christmas Eve. I had high expectations, that it didn't quite fulfill. Inviting fruity nose, with a little tang...Tasted cherry, cranberry, and a little spice. The finish was lasting with dense tannins. I'd buy it again, and drink it again, but I wanted more. Read More

  • Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2009

    Snoothrank:

A little funky on the nose with notes of rust, dried cow stall, ash, a little tobacco and fine strawberry fruit. Softish on entry and open knit, with a fine core of clear strawberry fruit. The finish is bright and refreshed with ripe acids. Overall a tad simple but very Chianti, shows pure strawberry fruit in a rustic style. 87pts Read More

  • Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2009

    Snoothrank:

Looks are deceiving! Light-bodied in appearance, but much more weighty on the palate, with dark fruit flavors and even a little smoke on the nose. Keeps evolving in the glass. Read More

  • Selvapiana Chianti Bucerchiale 2007

    Snoothrank:

Spicy and smoky on the nose with fine floral, mineral soil and tomato leaf aromas adding detail to the soft red raspberry fruit. Air really brings out an intense floral aroma here- irises galore. This is smooth as silk but a bit too soft on entry, dropping away to leave a bit of a void on the mid-palate. The wine really fills the mouth but there... Read More
