Fattoria dei Barbi on Snooth

  • Fattoria Dei Barbi Rosso di Montalcino 2011

    Snoothrank:

A little spicy with rusty red fruit, cranberries on nose. In the mouth this is a little jammy with a touch of wood ripe, and yet a little lean with mineral flavors and a touch of a creamy texture. This has an odd blend of textures, chunky and juicy. Sort of an under-ripe/over-ripe thing going on on the palate. 85pts Read More

  • Barbi Vin Santo DOC 2007

    Snoothrank:

A deliciously bright and sweet, clean yet complex dessert wine. Lots of citrus notes make this one kind of tangy. It paired well with a lightly sweetened pear + gingerbread cake, but a sweeter fruit cake proved to be too much for it. This is only my first vin santo (so I may be biased here) but it is my favourite sweet wine to date. Read More

  • Fattoria Dei Barbi Colombini Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Fiore 2007

    Snoothrank:

The nose showed sour berries and herbs but was marked by a severe aroma of hay and stable. On the palate, it was soft with strawberry fruits but turned bitter and dry into the finish. Read More

  • Somehow, it seems this piece has fallen on deaf ears, which confuses me, because it seems like everyone is talking about 2007 Brunello di Montalcino elsewhere.  Is this not a topic of interest? If not, that's fine, but I'd like to give it another shot.So I thought I'd put it here on the forum and see if maybe it somehow got missed. http://www.sn... Read More

  • Fattoria Dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino 2001

    Snoothrank:

The nose clearly cherry fruit, terracotta, seasoned wood, clove and a little tobacco. Complex and difficult to smell anything approaching odors. The taste is powerful, spicy, crisp tannins and just as significant for its Brunello acids. Powerful aftertaste! It's not really my taste wine, he's me and spicy acid. Brunello created a neat! In additi... Read More

  • I was just reading the great wine blog Do Bianchi, where the latest chapter of ... Stefano Cinelli Colombini of Fattoria dei Barbi. It's definitely worth a read and I love the line "it takes more than slapping a Ferrari label on a (Fiat) Panda to sell it for Euro 100,00 Read More

  • Fattoria Dei Barbi 1995

    Snoothrank:

Aromas of brown and burnt sugar on the nose gave way to dried red berries. On the palate, this wine was full and beautifully resolved with lush sour cherry fruit made juicy by vibrant acidity. The finish was long and reminiscent of cherries and old spice. Read More

  • A friend and I had a regions-of-the-world tasting, and we had a Brunello that we loved (Nardi 2003).  I paid about $37 for it, but it was on sale and is more like $60-$80.  My friend has been learning more about wine recently, and was really ecstatic about this bottle.  I told her that she has expensive taste and she's going to have to spend abo...
