Farnum Hill Ciders

At Poverty Lane Orchards on Farnum Hill, overlooking the Connecticut River in Lebanon, New Hampshire, proprietors Stephen Wood and Louisa Spencer grow true cider apples of English, French, and American origin. Peculiar-tasting when fresh, cider apples produce gorgeous aromas, flavors and sensations after pressing, fermenting, and blending by the respectful cidermaker. Farnum Hill Ciders are dry complex, and wine-like but, at 6.5-8.5%, they are less alcoholic than grape wines.

Farnum Hill Ciders on Snooth

  • Farnum Hill Semi-Dry Cider NV

    Snoothrank:

Seemed somewhat dull and not particularly interesting. Reminiscent of apple juice but without the candy-like sweetness. Maybe it would taste better warm? Read More

  • Farnum Hill Semi-Dry Cider NV

    Snoothrank:

Has the flavor of apple juice, but without the excessive sweetness. Overall, however, the flavor was flat and not particularly interesting. It feels a little weak, even watery perhaps. Read More

  • Farnum Hill Farmhouse Cider NV

    Snoothrank:

Farmhouse Cider - This has the freshest and most apply nose of the three ciders. Surprisingly it may also be the sweetest, but just barely. Theres nice straight up mid-palate of pure apple fruit with touches of orange and lemon in the inner mouth perfume. The finish is long, again with a slight edge of citrus fruits built around a clear core of... Read More

  • Farnum Hill Semi-Dry Cider NV

    Snoothrank:

Semi-Dry CiderSweet, candied green apple notes on the nose are joined by hints of papaya and ginger. This really is semi-dry with enough sugar to add just a touch of flesh to the palate and help balance the bright acids. This is all about fresh, crisp apple fruit with a nice creamy texture and a bright almost citrussy finale. Read More

  • Farnum Hill Kingston Black Reserve Cider 2008

    Snoothrank:

Perfumed, a bit yeast, smells like clay, earth, banana peel, a bit of prosciutto. This really shares a striking resemblance to Emidio Pepes Trebbiano. There is a fine, penetrating note of baking apple thats woven into this bouquet with just a touch of Orange Blossom. Dry and still, this is surprising cider with phenomenal acidity and bright cri...
