Deep garnet coloration, with slightly rustic overtones....it is not a clear wine, as mentioned by the winery as an unfined product......nice legs that have a filmy/oily appearance, and everything settles nicely. The aromas are of spicy fruits, mellow alcohol, milk chocolate sweetness, hints of mocha, licorice and leather. Flavors generally fol... Read More

Friends from Baton Rouge brought this wine over to New Orleans for an old friends get together in the Cresent City. Raved about this unknown Malbec. Wow! For the price, this wine is hard to beat! I am a fan of big California reds, but I am searching out where to find this little gem as we enjoyed this southern hemisphere juice very much. Read More

  • Familia Cassone Malbec la Florencia 2009

Plummy jam and spice aromas, deep violet colors, full cherry and plum flavors, with mocha, and earthy notes. Smooth mouth feel with warm pleasant finish. Excellent value, and a nice wine all around. Not as heavy as typical Argentine malbecs at the price. Read More

  • Familia Cassone Malbec Obra Prima 2005

Familia Cassone is a tiny producer, and I was pleasantly suprised to find I could track down anything from them back here in the US. My wife and I tasted some of this before bottling when we were in Argentina, and it has improved notably. I'd be more inclined to rat this a 4.5 - it isn't quite the pinnacle of Malbec. But it is bold and unapolo... Read More
