The climatic and pedologic characteristics of this territory are similar. The hills stretching from Montefi ascone to Orvieto are partly volcanic partly sedimentary in origin and both kinds of soil are particularly suited to the growing of vines as witnessed by the century-old tradition of the zone. In his book The foreign varietals cultivated in Italy S. Mondini affirms that as early as the 19th century several foreign varietals were cultivated in Lazio, some in quite remarkable proportions and specialized in the vineyards... Cabernet, Carignane, Gamay, Grenache, Merlot, Malbeck, Pinot, Sauvignon, Syrah... Lazio generally proves to be an area where the advantages from the cultivation of the foreign varietals are remarkable, especially for what concerns the ones coming from France.. In the countryside surrounding Rome, Frosinone and Viterbo it’s widely held that they contribute to the improvement of the local wine production.

  • Falesco Vitiano Bianco 2012

    Snoothrank:

Nice little Italian white blend of vermentino and verdicchio. Easy drinking, light and crisp with some light lemon, a touch of apricot, medium acidity and a short finish. This is a food friendly wine that went well with our chicken and dumplin's. Read More

  • Falesco Vitiano Rosso 2010

    Snoothrank:

Delicious! The Sangiovese seems to dominate this blend. It has well balanced acidity, with cherry and blackberry that start at the nose and are still graciously present at the finish. Near perfect oak and spice characteristics compliment the fruit and add to this wines complexity. The quality to price ratio can't be beat! 34% Sangiovese 33% M... Read More

  • Falesco Marciliano Umbria IGT Italy 2007

    Snoothrank:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, deep-purple with exuberant earthy and tobacco scents. Extraordinary taste, nose of blackberries, and very nice aroma. Equally impressive on the palate, this hearty Italian wine is very dry, smooth with velvety tannins. Complex, balanced, with beautiful fruit. It will keep for many years, an excel... Read More
