  • Elderton Shiraz 2009

    Snoothrank:

Sweet red berry and gym socks on the nose. Loads of funk. Dried mulberry with spice box, eucalyptus and anise. Generous fruit on the palate with low, soft tannin. Crisp acid. Dry finish. Ends on a red berry note. 86 pts.12/15/12 Read More

  • Elderton Barossa Friends Vineyard Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

    Snoothrank:

Reddish-Purple in the glass. Solid musty "cabernet" nose. Very fruity--dare I say sweetish--on the tip of the tongue, but then, as it travels through the mouth the irritating "sweetness" fades. Puckering tannin emerges, earthy flavors, maybe some mint. After the tannins fade on the finish, there is a nice linger. US$19.99 at Total Wines. Read More

  • Elderton "Command" Single Vineyard Shiraz Barossa Valley 1999

    Snoothrank:

Opened as the first bottle of the mini vertical tasting with 2000 and 2001, the brick-like core held an orange hue giving signs of high acid with age. Licorice notes but lack of fruits, mixed with bright acidity with medium tannins make it feels like an over the top wine. Has a long finish but feels hot with alcohol. Could be storage issue, or p... • Elderton Shiraz Command Barossa 2005

    Snoothrank:

Wow! The thickly layered nose, full of surprises over four hours, opens to black raspberries, oak, smoke, and a changing mélange of floral aromas. At one hour, add cherries, minerals, faint blueberries, and black pepper. At three hours, the aromatic complexity increases again to include currant, licorice, curry, vanilla, violet, honeysuckle, an... Read More

Powerful aromas leap from the glass on opening, including plum, vanilla and chocolate, with notes of pepper and blueberry adding to the luscious medley.
