Champagne Duval-Leroy was founded in 1859 when two Champagne families came together to share their interests. Since its creation, Champagne Duval-Leroy has been located in Vertus, in the heart of “La Cote des Blancs”. Currently the House cultivates about 200 hectares, much of which is devoted to production of high quality Chardonnay grapes. The predominance of Chardonnay in the elaboration of the cuvees gives a finesse, lightness and elegance to DUVAL-LEROY champagnes. Headed by Carol Duval-Leroy since 1991, the company is one of the few remaining 100% family-owned Champagne firms and is ranked in the 15 top Champagne houses. – Description from Dragac

  • In glossary terms, a prestige cuvée is an exceptional Champagne, generally aged extensively and very carefully blended from the best parcels, which sell for a premium. Historically speaking, and with some irony in the timing, the concept was developed by Robert-Jean de Vogüé, a director at Champagne Moët & Chandon during the Great Depression. He... Read More

  • As the holiday season is closing in on us and we start to look for interesting wine matches I wonder how many of you are seriously considering Champagne at the dinner table?Yes I do admit that Champagne is often thought of as either an aperitif or maybe desert wine yet I believe it is also the perfect food wine. • I noticed that OutThere purchased seven bottles of a particular wine at $14 and it occurred to me that it was a $100 purchase, and enough to last about a week.  So I got curious, and mentioned in the thread that it would be interesting to know how much per week people spent.  Well, Emark has better records and more time on his hands than I do, a...
