Drylands Vineyard is situated near the middle of the Wairau Valley Region, 30m above sea level, surrounding the Drylands Winery in Hammerichs Road, Blenheim. The current Winery Block comprises 43ha Sauvignon Blanc, 1.5ha Semillon, and 1.5ha Chardonnay. The region immediately adjacent to the winery buildings has some of the oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines, going back to 1980. This vineyard produces Sauvignon Blanc with intensely herbal and some sweaty characters. Fruit from the alluvial silts produce aroma and racy characters while fruit from the stonier sites has a textural character. Fruit from this vineyard shows traditional, typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc characters. This vineyard now has Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand Accreditation. – Description from Dragac

  • Drylands Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2009

    Snoothrank:

Honey and honeydew melon followed by lemon/citrus. Bright acidity and good balance. I bought 7 or 8 recent NZ SB's, and this is the one that stands out so far after drinking 5 of them. Read More

  • Drylands Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2009

    Snoothrank:

Upon initial inspection, this wines shows its differences from the previous years. It was slightly paler in color than the previous two years wines and it didnt carry that tinge of green. Just a very pale yellow. Upon the nose you get a scent of melon and vanilla with a bit of clover. The scent of honey is a touch stronger than before, lending ... Read More

  • Drylands Sauvignon Blanc 2008

    Snoothrank:

The color is identical to 2007, pale yellow with just a touch of green. On the nose there is that familiar scent of green apple along with honey and clover and just a touch of wood. On the palate there is that green apple and passion fruit and the honey and oak remain. Like I mentioned before, there is just less of it. If I hadnt been tasting th... Read More

  • Drylands Sauvignon Blanc 2007

    Snoothrank:

Pale yellow with slightly greenish tinge. As soon as the glass gets near your nose, the little hairs start to curl with the tartness coming from the glass. Green apple and chalk along with the barest whiff of honey are sensed upon the nose. On the palate that tartness of green apple is there but the sense of passion fruit is strong along with a ... • Drylands Sauvignon Blanc 2007

    Snoothrank:

Great example of the Marlborough Sav. Blanc. I prefer this over the Kim Crawford that had been a favorite of mine (disclaimer I drink mostly reds). For once the winemaker's notes seem one target although I'd start with citrus and lead to peach instead of the grasses Read More
