Don Luciano is a brand offshoot of J. Garciá-Carrión wines, produced in the Spanish provinces of La Mancha and Valdpeñas. The wines are produced using traditional local grapes such as Airén, Tempranillo (there called Cencibel) and Garnacha, as well as international varieties. The wines are available in blended and single varietal styles of white, red and rosado.

had a bottle of 2009 don luciano cabernet sauvignon. i am tasting several of all the reds in recent times, and this one has the classic green pepper palate. medium-bodied, relatively low tannins for a sauvignon, slightly fructose black-rasberry taste along with the medium-low wood covers the alcohol very well. intense color. i would rate this in... • What's the worst wine you have ever had? I had some Don Luciano Shiraz over the weekend (which is a $4.00 wine I picked up at Wal-Mart...just to see). I had had the Don Luciano Chardonnay and it was OK, but the Shiraz I had smelled like road kill (very heavy sulfur)--I wonder if I got a bad bottle.  Has anyone else tried it? Read More

  • Don Luciano Cabernet Sauvignon la Mancha Spain 2005

    Snoothrank:

2008-Much too dry for my palate. Strong alcohol-y bouquet overwhelmed the fruit essence. Tolerable and a bit more balanced with a soft mild cheese. I was a bit surprised considering Spanish wines tend to be smoother. But hey it's under $4 So you get what you pay for. http://www.associatedcontent.comarticle2549093wine_review_don_luciano_la_mancha... Read More

  • Hi all, new around here. I'm rapidly approaching a milestone and will want to celebrate with a nice bottle. Not looking for something to cellar, but rather something to enjoy now.I've considered Barolo and Brunello, to Bordeaux and Burgundy. I'd like something with some age on it, and some muscle, but with nice finesse. Would like to keep it... Read More

Re: the 2008. I'm immediately in love with this wine. I'm a casual wine lover so I'm comparing it with more expensive Cabs. This one has a nice BIG WOW flavor that I really love and not too dry. I plan on buying more of it to stock over the winter. Read More
