Dominio del Plata

Dominio del Plata is a family-owned and run project of Susana Balbo (Enologist) and Pedro Marchevsky (Viticulturist). The core philosophies that they share, and that figure prominently in the production of their wines, are the following: Precision Viticulture This is a grape-growing philosophy that demands attention to detail, however small. The planting of the vineyards, varietal selections, vineyard management systems, water management, canopy conduction, sanitary precautions and harvesting decision are all managed personally by Pedro and Susana in order to achieve the highest quality standards. Sustainable Agriculture The entire project is specially designed and implemented in a way that doesn’t harm the natural resources, preserves the environment, functions according to social requirements, and at the same time maintains productivity in order to remain economically competitive. Dominio del Plata on Snooth

  • Crios Susana de Balbo Syrah Bonarda 2009

    Snoothrank:

Big dark crushed cherry fruit with some nice spiceness, medium to light tannins and medium acidity. The syrah is more on the lighter side but definitely dominates the flavor profile. Not overly complex and a somewhat short finish but overall really good QPR. Read More

  • Crios Torrontes 2011

    Snoothrank:

Offers luxurious lychee aromas and mouth-filling citrus flavors with an acidic but not overpowering bite a fine representation of Argentinas indigenous white. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=176) Read More

  • Susana Balbo Crios Rose of Malbec Agrelo Mendoza 2011

    Snoothrank:

The faint bouquet of nectarine doesnt give much away, but the bright red color does a luscious wine with attractive sweetness if not much structure follows, with lively strawberry notes towards the end, and theres that nectarine tang again. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=673) Read More

  • Susana Balbo Crios de Susana Balbo Rose of Malbec Agrelo Mendoza 2010

    Snoothrank:

A deceptively powerful fruit bomb with a peach-pink color, cherry nose, and mouthful of strawberry jam, every bit as delicious as a good Cotes-de-Provence. (AV 87, http://argovino.com/?p=222) Read More

  • Susana Balbo Crios Torrontes Bottle 2012

    Snoothrank:

This is tart and pleasing. I recommend it with dishes involving white fish, scallops or shrimps. The brightness of this wine will cut any rich sauce that might attend your meal, and it is a pleasing accompaniment to seafood that is singing a capella as well. Read More
