Hey, it even has some of that 'mineral' flavor that we all love to talk about! My guess is that this is a rosé that will age for a bit, too. You should also check out rosatos from Italy or Italian varietals (such as sangiovese from California or the Pacific Northwest). As Greg so rightly points out, stay away from white zinfandels, for peace of mind and health of palate and soul... ;-    (hide)

  Snoothrank: Starting at $29^.99

  Appealing minerally nose of oaky papaya. Crisp citrus palate. High minerality overwhelms the hint of peach blossom. Delicate oaky finish. Well balanced and elegant but a bit rich for my taste in sauvigon blanc.

  clean citrus (lemon/lime) with lemongrass and sage, fresh vibrant acidity stretches the finish on indefinitely. intense chalky minerality resonates throughout. Incredible Sancerre

A pervasive and white pepper-spiced nose of plum tart, black cherries, smoked meat all permeated by a toasty oak float. Earthy and primeval, the palate is unlike any Pinot you've encountered. Packed and primed with smoky berries (huckle and olallie), the palate is littered with dried plum, cocoa, black truffle and Asian spices. The tannins are very in-your-face at the moment, but will sink into the package with about 6 months of cellar time. Begs for grilled fare - time to pull out the wild boar.    (hide)

  Very pale lemon looking. Clean, vegetal nose with slight gooseberry and grapefruit aromas. Youthful. Quite acid to taste - light bodied with good length. Available from Majestic (£11.99)
